Global Director Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a global director in Massachusetts?
The path to a global director role in Massachusetts typically begins with a bachelor's degree in international business, management, or a related field, followed by an MBA from one of the state's strong programs such as those at Harvard, MIT Sloan, or Northeastern. There is no state-issued license for this role, but employers in Massachusetts's life sciences and financial sectors consistently require deep international operations experience and a record of leading geographically distributed teams.
How much do global directors make in Massachusetts?
Global directors in Massachusetts earn a median of about $127,220 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $60,700 for the lowest 10% to over $314,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire global directors in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring global directors in Massachusetts right now include Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Merck KGaA, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of global pharmaceutical, asset management, and defense technology firms means openings appear regularly across a range of industries beyond just technology.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most global director jobs?
Boston, Cambridge, and Waltham have the most global director openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge dominate because of their dense concentration of global headquarters, research institutions, and financial firms, while Worcester draws openings from its growing biotech corridor and regional manufacturing operations with international footprints.
Are there remote global director jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 77% of global director openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based and strategic nature of the role. The functions most commonly offered as remote or hybrid include global strategy, international business development, and cross-border partnerships, though roles requiring frequent on-site executive presence tend to remain largely in-office.
How can I get hired as a global director in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through international program management, regional director, or global business analyst roles at established Massachusetts employers such as Raytheon Technologies, State Street, or a mid-size life sciences company. Building experience in international compliance, export operations, or global account management within these firms creates a direct line to a director-level role. Earning an MBA from a Massachusetts institution and developing fluency in a second language both strengthen a candidate's profile considerably.
