Primary Function (Purpose of Position):
A DeLaSalle High School Short-Term Substitute Mathematics Teacher will have a strong background in mathematics, a passion for education, and the ability to inspire high school students. This temporary full-time position involves maintaining an engaging, positive, and supportive learning environment across 10th-grade Geometry and Honors Geometry courses for a 2-to-3-week period starting November 9th, 2026. Through structured daily instruction and guided problem-solving the instructor will ensure seamless curricular continuity, reinforcing foundational concepts while preparing students for advanced coursework.
Ethical Standards:
Employees of DeLaSalle High School must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of DeLaSalle High School. Their personal behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church, nor can it embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. Although specific positions may not require the employee be of the Catholic faith, it is expected that all employees respect the Roman Catholic doctrine and religious practices. Representative Responsibilities:
- Instruction & Curriculum Delivery:
- Execute and deliver engaging daily lesson plans in Geometry and Honors Geometry aligned with departmental curriculum and state standards.
- Integrate technology, mathematical modeling, and real-world applications into lessons to enhance student understanding and logical reasoning.
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Administer and grade quizzes, tests, and homework in a timely manner according to established department rubrics.
- Provide constructive feedback to students, parents, and school leadership on academic progress.
- Classroom Management:
- Maintain a structured, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment conducive to active learning and mathematical inquiry.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to minimize disruptions and support diverse learning styles.
- Student Support & Collaboration:
- Guide students through geometric proofs, algebraic applications in geometry, and spatial reasoning tasks.
- Collaborate closely with the Mathematics Department team and administrative leadership to ensure smooth transition and alignment with long-term course goals.
