Who We Are
Overflow is a Series B Silicon Valley technology company with a bold mission: to inspire the world to give. We are a B2B SaaS philanthropy platform that enables modern giving across cash, stock, and crypto for nonprofits, churches, and mission-driven organizations. Backed by leading investors including Uncork Capital, Craft Ventures, and Village Global, Overflow builds secure, beautifully designed infrastructure that powers generosity at scale.
Our Founding Principles
Overflow was founded on the belief that generosity transforms people and communities. Inspired by Proverbs 11:24 — "The world of the generous gets larger and larger" — we operate with integrity, stewardship, service, and excellence.
How We Work
Overflow operates with a flexible work model. While there is no company-wide in-office requirement, some teams may establish in-person collaboration rhythms based on their function, goals, and team needs. We maintain offices in Los Gatos, CA and Birmingham, AL for team collaboration, coworking, meetings, and intentional in-person connection. Candidates should be comfortable participating in occasional in-person gatherings or team-specific onsite expectations, depending on their role and department.
About The Role
The People Operations Specialist executes the systems and logistics that shape Overflow's employee experience — from onboarding to recognition to offboarding. Working closely with the Head of People, this role ensures that Overflow's values of generosity, gratitude, excellence, family, and relationship are lived out in tangible, everyday ways for every employee. This role blends strategic system execution with relational warmth — you'll be the person who keeps HR systems running smoothly while also being a trusted, familiar face across the company.
What You Will Do
HR Policies & Systems Execution:
- Partner with the Head of People to integrate HR policies with employee experience initiatives
- Support the development and execution of people policies and infrastructure across the full employee lifecycle — recruiting operations, onboarding, systems management, benefits, terminations, and offboarding
- Manage employee status and supporting data via Notion and Gusto
- Maintain accurate internal tracking of the employee database
- Execute the culture onboarding program to ensure new hires experience Overflow's values from day one
- Manage and maintain the general tech stack and required software across users and payments
Employee Experience & Recognition:
- Steward recognition programs that embed gratitude into daily rhythms
- Manage staff gifting and celebrations through Bonusly: birthdays, work anniversaries, and accomplishments
- Ensure Overflow's culture pillars — gratitude, hospitality, excellence, family, generosity, and relationship — are expressed consistently across the employee experience
Event Management: Staff Development:
- Execute performance-driven and staff development gatherings led by the Head of People, including Team Intensives and SLT Onsite Gatherings
- Manage RSVPs, travel arrangements, itineraries, reservations, and on-site event logistics
- Source, negotiate, and manage vendors for catering, hotels, transportation, AV, and supplies
- Own full budget management for events: align vendor invoices, receipts, and payments; provide post-event reconciliations and insights
- Collaborate with the Head of People and the Chief of Staff of the Executive Office to execute All-Staff Gatherings (e.g., Staff Retreat)
Budget Management:
- Maintain stewardship and regular hygiene of the People Team budget
- Track, reconcile, and report event expenses in Brex with accuracy and accountability
- Partner with Finance to ensure timely and compliant monthly expense reporting
IT Execution:
- Ensure IT infrastructure across office locations is functioning, including WiFi
- Manage employee laptops and electronic property
What You Should Have
- 4+ years of demonstrated experience in People Ops, HR execution, Recruiting, and/or employee engagement roles
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to design systems that balance structure with human-centered care
- Proven ability to partner with senior leaders to implement people systems
- Alignment with Overflow's mission and values of generosity, gratitude, excellence, family, and relationship
It'd Be Nice If You Had
- Experience scaling people operations in high-growth environments
- Skilled in recognition, celebration, and culture-building programs
- Detail-oriented with experience stewarding department budgets
- Strong communicator with the ability to connect executive-level strategy to daily practices
- Creative and resourceful in making culture come alive in tangible ways
Our Compensation Philosophy
Overflow's compensation philosophy is rooted in Carta Total Compensation benchmarks, ensuring pay that is competitive by role, geography, and function. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including job-related skills, experience, interview performance, and market data. Total compensation may also include equity, performance-based bonuses (for eligible roles), and a comprehensive benefits package. As a Series B company, we believe equity is a meaningful part of building long-term ownership — when Overflow wins, our team should share in that upside.
Benefits & Perks
Overflow offers a thoughtful benefits package designed to support your well-being, growth, and life outside of work, including:
- Competitive base salary with equity eligibility
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents
- Generous paid time off and company holidays

Tips for Your HR Operations Specialist Job Search
Tailor your resume to HRIS platforms
HR operations roles are filtered heavily by system experience. Call out every HRIS platform you've used, Workday, ADP, SAP SuccessFactors, or BambooHR, in a dedicated tools section so your resume clears automated screening before a recruiter reads it.
Highlight process improvement with specifics
Hiring managers want proof you've streamlined workflows, not just maintained them. Describe a process you audited and improved, such as reducing onboarding paperwork steps or automating a manual report, using concrete before-and-after language in your bullet points.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists hr operations specialist openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Filter by the compliance specialty you know
HR operations postings differ sharply by compliance focus: some prioritize leave administration under FMLA, others center on benefits enrollment or I-9 audit readiness. Searching by the specific compliance area you know best surfaces openings where your experience is the direct match.
Prepare examples of cross-department coordination
Interviewers for hr operations specialist roles consistently ask how you've worked across payroll, legal, and IT teams to resolve a system or compliance issue. Prepare two or three concrete examples before your interview so you can answer confidently without generic responses.
Negotiate start date around system migration timing
If a company is mid-HRIS migration, your start date affects the work you'll inherit immediately. During the offer stage, ask where they are in any current system rollout so you can negotiate a start that gives you time to get up to speed before go-live pressure hits.
