HVAC Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a hvac in Hawaii?
To work as an hvac technician in Hawaii you must obtain a specialty contractor license through the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Professional and Vocational Licensing Division. The path typically requires completing an accredited HVAC program or a registered apprenticeship, accumulating supervised field hours, passing a Hawaii trade examination, and holding a valid EPA Section 608 certification before applying for licensure.
Which companies hire hvacs in Hawaii?
Companies currently hiring hvacs in Hawaii include Johnson Controls, Steve's Plumbing & AC Service, and Carrier, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's resort and military sectors drive consistent demand, so large hospitality groups and federal facility management contractors are among the steadiest sources of open positions.
Which Hawaii cities have the most hvac jobs?
Honolulu, ‘Aiea, and Koloa are the Hawaii cities with the most hvac openings, driven by Honolulu's concentration of commercial buildings, government facilities, and major hotels, while Maui and Kailua-Kona generate steady openings from resort construction and the ongoing need to maintain aging hospitality infrastructure across the neighbor islands.
Are there remote hvac jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, but they're rare. HVAC work is fundamentally hands-on and site-dependent, so most roles require a physical presence at the job location. About 0% of hvac openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions are almost exclusively in project estimating, controls programming, or technical sales rather than installation and service work.
How can I get hired as a hvac in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is enrolling in a registered HVAC apprenticeship through the Hawaii Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, which pairs classroom instruction with paid on-the-job training under licensed technicians. Large facility management contractors and resort property operators on Oahu and Maui regularly bring on helpers and apprentice-level technicians, and candidates who already hold an EPA Section 608 certification and have completed even a short vocational program at Honolulu Community College stand out in competitive applicant pools.
Where can I find and apply to hvac jobs in Hawaii?
You can find and apply to hvac jobs in Hawaii on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the roles that fit your experience level and credentials, then apply directly to the ones that match.
