Insurance Account Manager Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance account manager in Missouri?
Most employers require an active Missouri insurance producer license issued by the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance, covering the lines of authority relevant to the role, most commonly Property and Casualty or Life and Health. Candidates sit for the corresponding state licensing exam through a Missouri-approved testing provider after completing required pre-licensing education. A bachelor's degree in business or a related field strengthens candidacy, and professional designations like CIC or CISR accelerate advancement into senior account management positions.
How much do insurance account managers make in Missouri?
Insurance account managers in Missouri earn a median of about $58,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $31,200 for the lowest 10% to over $127,150 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire insurance account managers in Missouri?
Employers hiring insurance account managers in Missouri right now include State Farm, Dan Rataj - State Farm Agent, and Crane Agency, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Missouri's mix of regional carriers, national brokerages, and independent agencies creates a broad hiring base for account managers, particularly in commercial lines and employee benefits in the St. Louis and Kansas City metro areas.
Which Missouri cities have the most insurance account manager jobs?
The cities with the most insurance account manager openings in Missouri are St. Louis, Kearney, and Manchester. St. Louis and Kansas City drive the majority of volume due to their concentration of corporate headquarters, regional insurance offices, and large commercial clients, while Springfield supports a strong independent agency market anchored by regional carriers including Shelter Insurance.
Are there remote insurance account manager jobs in Missouri?
Yes, and they are fairly common since the core duties, managing client communication, reviewing renewals, and coordinating coverage, are largely desk-based. About 50% of insurance account manager openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the flexibility many brokerages and carriers now offer. Roles focused on established book-of-business service tend to be more remote-eligible than positions that require in-person prospecting or new commercial lines production.
How can I get hired as a insurance account manager in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a customer service representative or insurance assistant role at a Missouri-based independent agency or regional carrier, where you handle policy servicing while working toward your Missouri producer license. Shelter Insurance and large Kansas City and St. Louis brokerages regularly bring on entry-level account associates who progress to full account management once licensed. Completing pre-licensing coursework and earning the CISR designation before your first interview signals genuine commitment and sets you apart from other candidates without field experience.
Where can I find and apply to insurance account manager jobs in Missouri?
You can find and apply to insurance account manager jobs in Missouri on Migrate Mate, which lists current Missouri openings from carriers, brokerages, and independent agencies. Search the listings by city or specialty, find the roles that fit your license type and experience level, and apply directly to the ones that match.
