Insurance Account Manager Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an insurance account manager in Ohio?
The concrete first step is obtaining an Ohio insurance producer license through the Ohio Department of Insurance, which requires completing pre-licensing education and passing the state licensing exam administered by Pearson VUE. Most employers also expect a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field. Candidates who earn designations such as the Certified Insurance Service Representative credential demonstrate technical depth that Ohio carriers and agencies consistently value when making hiring decisions.
How much do insurance account managers make in Ohio?
Insurance account managers in Ohio earn a median of about $61,260 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,720 for the lowest 10% to over $123,370 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire insurance account managers in Ohio?
Employers hiring insurance account managers in Ohio right now include State Farm, Steele Insurance Associates, and PLNAR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Ohio's concentration of insurance headquarters and regional carrier offices, particularly in Columbus and Cincinnati, means the state consistently produces a wide range of openings across both national carriers and independent agencies.
Which Ohio cities have the most insurance account manager jobs?
Cincinnati, Columbus, and Saint Clairsville have the most insurance account manager openings in Ohio. Columbus drives the largest share of listings as the headquarters city for Nationwide and a growing cluster of fintech-adjacent insurers, while Cincinnati and Cleveland generate strong demand through regional carriers, commercial brokerage offices, and the employee benefits divisions of large area employers.
Are there remote insurance account manager jobs in Ohio?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, since the core work of managing accounts, communicating with clients, and processing renewals translates well to remote settings. About 100% of insurance account manager openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of most account management functions. Roles focused on commercial renewals and benefits administration tend to offer the greatest remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as an insurance account manager in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a customer service representative or insurance assistant at an Ohio independent agency or regional carrier, where hands-on exposure to policy processing and client communication builds a foundation quickly. Large Ohio-based employers such as Nationwide and Progressive run associate and rotational programs that accept candidates without direct account management experience. Earning your Ohio producer license before applying signals commitment and removes a common barrier for hiring managers evaluating early-career candidates.
Where can I find and apply to insurance account manager jobs in Ohio?
You can find and apply to insurance account manager jobs in Ohio on Migrate Mate, which lists current Ohio openings from employers actively hiring. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty and apply directly to the ones that match.
