Insurance Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a insurance job in Houston?
The strongest entry point in Houston is targeting employers in the energy, healthcare, and port-related logistics sectors, which generate steady demand for commercial lines, risk management, and employee benefits roles. Concentrations of hiring activity sit in the Galleria corridor, Greenway Plaza, and the Energy Corridor. Candidates who hold designations like CPCU or CIC and can speak to commercial property or casualty experience gain a clear edge in this market.
Which companies hire insurances in Houston?
Companies currently hiring insurances in Houston include PFS, SENIOR TRUST LIFE, and PureShield Insurance, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's market includes a strong mix of regional carriers, national insurers with Gulf Coast offices, and large independent brokerages serving the city's energy and medical industries.
Are there remote insurance jobs in Houston?
Yes, though it depends on the role: customer-facing, field underwriting, and loss control positions tend to require in-person work, while claims review, actuarial analysis, and policy processing roles are more commonly remote. About 59% of insurance openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. Desk-based analytical and back-office roles based out of Greenway Plaza and Westchase offices are the most likely to offer flexible arrangements.
How can I get a insurance job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is landing a customer service or claims support role at one of the city's many regional carriers or large independent agencies, which regularly hire candidates with strong communication skills and no prior insurance background. Pursuing a Texas Property and Casualty license before applying makes candidates immediately more competitive. Houston's concentration of healthcare organizations also opens doors for entry-level employee benefits coordinators with general HR or administrative experience.
Which industries hire the most insurances in Houston?
Houston insurance roles concentrate in Insurance, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's outsized energy sector, one of the largest medical complexes in the country, and its status as a major Gulf Coast port create sustained demand for specialized commercial, health, and marine insurance professionals that few other U.S. cities match.
