Insurance Sales Consultant Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance sales consultant in Delaware?
To become an insurance sales consultant in Delaware you must obtain a producer license through the Delaware Department of Insurance. The path starts with completing a state-approved pre-licensing course in your chosen line of authority, either Property and Casualty or Life and Health, then passing the Pearson VUE licensing exam. After passing, you apply through the National Insurance Producer Registry. No specific degree is required, though most employers prefer candidates with a background in business, finance, or a related field.
Which companies hire insurance sales consultants in Delaware?
Employers hiring insurance sales consultants in Delaware right now include State Farm, EXL Service, and Kemper, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's large concentration of Fortune 500 corporate headquarters and financial services firms also generates steady demand for group benefits and commercial lines consultants across the state.
Which Delaware cities have the most insurance sales consultant jobs?
The cities with the most insurance sales consultant openings in Delaware are Wilmington, Dover, and Newark. Wilmington drives the largest share of listings given its concentration of banks, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters that generate consistent demand for group benefits and commercial lines consultants, while Dover's state government and healthcare institutions support a steady base of personal lines and supplemental benefits roles.
Are there remote insurance sales consultant jobs in Delaware?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely analytical roles because insurance sales work typically involves client meetings, relationship building, and in-person prospecting. About 63% of insurance sales consultant openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting a partial shift after industry-wide adoption of virtual selling tools. The parts of the role most likely to be remote are service renewals, benefits enrollment support, and inside sales positions focused on inbound leads.
How can I get hired as a insurance sales consultant in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is obtaining your Delaware producer license first, which demonstrates commitment and removes the main hiring barrier employers cite for junior candidates. Large Delaware-based agencies and carriers such as AAA Mid-Atlantic and New York Life's Wilmington district offices run structured new-agent development programs that pair unlicensed or newly licensed candidates with a mentor and a leads system. Customer service representative and insurance claims roles at Delaware carriers are common lateral moves that lead to licensed sales positions within one to two years.
Where can I find and apply to insurance sales consultant jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to insurance sales consultant jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current Delaware openings updated in real time. Search the listings, find the roles that match your license type, experience level, and preferred location, and apply directly to each one that fits.
