Insurance Sales Consultant Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance sales consultant in Texas?
You become an insurance sales consultant in Texas by obtaining a license through the Texas Department of Insurance. You must complete a state-approved pre-licensing education course for the line of authority you want, pass the relevant licensing exam administered by Pearson VUE, and submit a license application. Most employers require at minimum a Life and Health license, a Property and Casualty license, or both, depending on what lines you will sell.
How much do insurance sales consultants make in Texas?
Insurance sales consultants in Texas earn a median of about $51,180 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $30,140 for the lowest 10% to over $128,590 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire insurance sales consultants in Texas?
Employers hiring insurance sales consultants in Texas right now include State Farm, USI Insurance Services, and Marsh, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large independent agency market, alongside major national carriers with regional offices in Dallas and Houston, keeps demand for licensed producers consistently high across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most insurance sales consultant jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Arlington have the most insurance sales consultant openings in Texas. Houston's concentration of energy and maritime businesses generates heavy commercial lines demand, Dallas-Fort Worth's corporate headquarters density drives group benefits and commercial property and casualty hiring, and San Antonio's large military retiree population and USAA headquarters create strong life and health insurance opportunities.
Are there remote insurance sales consultant jobs in Texas?
Yes, though they are less common than in purely desk-based fields because much of the role involves in-person prospecting and client relationship management. About 24% of insurance sales consultant openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to concentrate in inside sales roles focused on inbound leads, renewals, or Medicare and supplemental health products sold primarily by phone.
How can I get hired as a insurance sales consultant in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is obtaining your Texas Department of Insurance license first, then targeting captive agency roles with carriers like State Farm, Farmers, or Allstate that run structured training programs for new producers. Many Texas independent agencies also hire unlicensed candidates and sponsor exam prep if you commit to obtaining your license within a set timeframe. Adjacent starting points include customer service representative and insurance processor roles at large Texas carriers, which regularly promote from within into licensed sales positions.
Where can I find and apply to insurance sales consultant jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to insurance sales consultant jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from carriers, independent agencies, and brokerages across the state. Find the roles that fit your license type, experience level, and preferred metro, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
