Insurance Sales Consultant Jobs in Nebraska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a insurance sales consultant in Nebraska?
To become an insurance sales consultant in Nebraska, you must obtain a producer license through the Nebraska Department of Insurance. You choose a line of authority such as Life and Health or Property and Casualty, complete a state-approved pre-licensing course, pass the Pearson VUE licensing exam, and submit your application to the department. Most employers also expect candidates to hold at least a high school diploma, though a business or finance degree strengthens your application significantly.
Which companies hire insurance sales consultants in Nebraska?
Employers hiring insurance sales consultants in Nebraska right now include EXL Service, State Farm, and FNIC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nebraska's concentration of insurance headquarters and regional offices, particularly in the Omaha metro, means the hiring pipeline here tends to be deeper and more consistent than in most Midwestern states.
Which Nebraska cities have the most insurance sales consultant jobs?
The Nebraska cities with the most insurance sales consultant openings are Omaha, Lincoln, and Nebraska. Omaha drives the largest share of postings because it serves as a national headquarters city for major carriers like Mutual of Omaha and Berkshire Hathaway subsidiaries, while Lincoln and Papillion support substantial suburban commercial and personal lines offices that draw from the broader metro workforce.
Are there remote insurance sales consultant jobs in Nebraska?
Yes, and more than many sales roles, since much of the work involves phone and video consultations rather than in-person site visits. About 39% of insurance sales consultant openings tied to Nebraska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting carrier flexibility on territory-based roles. Positions focused on inbound renewals, group benefits enrollment, and inside sales account management are the most likely to be fully remote.
How can I get hired as a insurance sales consultant in Nebraska with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is obtaining your Nebraska producer license first and then applying to agency assistant or insurance sales trainee roles at carriers headquartered in Omaha, such as Mutual of Omaha or Assurity Life, which run structured new-hire development programs. Lateral moves from customer service representative or financial services associate positions are common entry points. Candidates who complete the pre-licensing coursework and pass their exam before applying stand out immediately to Nebraska hiring managers.
