IT Support Technician Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an it support technician in Hawaii?
Hawaii does not require a state-issued license to work as an it support technician, so the path centers on certifications and education. Most Hawaii employers expect at least a CompTIA A+ certification as a baseline, with Network+ valued for roles involving infrastructure. An associate or bachelor's degree in information technology strengthens applications, particularly for positions with the state government, University of Hawaii system, or defense contractors operating on Oahu.
Which companies hire it support technicians in Hawaii?
Companies currently hiring it support technicians in Hawaii include Kukui IT, CACI International, and Honolulu Museum of Art, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's concentration of federal agencies, military installations, and large health networks means demand runs consistently across both public-sector and private employers throughout the islands.
Which Hawaii cities have the most it support technician jobs?
Honolulu, Kahului, and Kapolei account for the most it support technician openings in Hawaii. Honolulu leads by a wide margin because it holds the state's largest concentration of government offices, defense contractors, financial institutions, and health systems, while Kahului and Kailua-Kona see demand driven by resort hospitality operations and regional medical facilities that require on-site technical support.
Are there remote it support technician jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of it support technician openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of most technician work. The sub-roles most likely to allow remote arrangements are those focused on software troubleshooting, help desk triage, and Microsoft 365 or cloud administration rather than hardware repair or on-site infrastructure support.
How can I get hired as an it support technician in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a help desk or desktop support associate role, which Hawaii employers across health systems, state agencies, and hospitality companies regularly fill with candidates who hold a CompTIA A+ certification even without prior work history. The University of Hawaii system and Hawaii Pacific Health both hire entry-level IT staff and offer structured onboarding. Lateral moves from customer service or administrative roles within a large organization, combined with a completed A+ exam, give candidates a credible edge with Hawaii hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to it support technician jobs in Hawaii?
