Learning And Development Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a learning and development in Michigan?
Most learning and development roles in Michigan require a bachelor's degree in education, human resources, organizational development, or instructional design, and the field has no state-issued license. Many Michigan employers, particularly in automotive, healthcare, and higher education, give preference to candidates holding professional certifications such as the ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development or a SHRM credential. Building a portfolio of training materials and completing an internship or practicum at a Michigan employer strengthens a new candidate's profile considerably.
How much do learning and developments make in Michigan?
Learning and developments in Michigan earn a median of about $64,350 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $38,550 for the lowest 10% to over $106,250 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire learning and developments in Michigan?
Employers hiring learning and developments in Michigan right now include BDA, Daifuku, and Volaris, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Michigan's automotive manufacturers, regional hospital networks, large credit unions, and public universities are among the most consistent sources of full-time learning and development roles in the state.
Which Michigan cities have the most learning and development jobs?
Michigan, Novi, and Troy lead Michigan for learning and development openings. Detroit anchors demand through its concentration of automotive headquarters, financial services firms, and large health systems, while Grand Rapids draws openings from its expanding healthcare and manufacturing sectors, and Ann Arbor's presence of the University of Michigan and a dense technology and research employer base supports consistent hiring throughout the year.
Are there remote learning and development jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than most fields, because instructional design, e-learning development, and curriculum writing translate well to remote work. About 67% of learning and development openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, reflecting broad employer acceptance of distributed L&D work. Roles focused on live facilitation, new-hire onboarding, or on-floor manufacturing training tend to require on-site presence, while content creation and program management positions are the most frequently posted as fully remote.
How can I get hired as a learning and development in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an instructional design or training coordinator role, which Michigan employers in healthcare, automotive, and higher education regularly post as junior or associate positions open to candidates with a relevant degree and a portfolio of sample training materials. Large Michigan health systems and university HR departments often run formal onboarding or talent development associate programs. Transitioning from adjacent roles like HR generalist, corporate trainer, or K-12 teacher is common and well recognized by Michigan hiring managers, and earning an ATD certificate while in those roles accelerates the move.
Where can I find and apply to learning and development jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to learning and development jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings updated regularly. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and the locations or work arrangements you want, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
