Manufacturing Engineer Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a manufacturing engineer in New York?
Most manufacturing engineer roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering from an ABET-accredited program. New York does not mandate a state license to work as a manufacturing engineer in industry, though engineers who stamp public-facing designs must hold a Professional Engineer license through the New York State Education Department. Candidates targeting aerospace, defense, or medical device employers in the state typically strengthen their standing with Six Sigma or lean certifications and relevant co-op or internship experience.
How much do manufacturing engineers make in New York?
Manufacturing engineers in New York earn a median of about $102,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $77,030 for the lowest 10% to over $152,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire manufacturing engineers in New York?
Employers hiring manufacturing engineers in New York right now include GlobalFoundries, Wolfspeed, and Micron Technology, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's aerospace corridor along the Buffalo-Rochester corridor and its medical device cluster in the Hudson Valley and Long Island keep demand for manufacturing engineers steady at large, established firms.
Which New York cities have the most manufacturing engineer jobs?
Rochester, Malta, and New York have the most manufacturing engineer openings in New York. New York City anchors demand through large defense contractors, medical device manufacturers, and industrial firms with metro-area facilities, while Buffalo and Rochester draw heavily on the region's aerospace, optics, and precision manufacturing base, which includes major employers with multi-decade presences in those communities.
Are there remote manufacturing engineer jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Manufacturing engineering is fundamentally a hands-on, floor-facing role, so most positions require daily presence in a facility. About 5% of manufacturing engineer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those tend to be in process engineering, quality systems, or program management functions where documentation and cross-functional coordination can happen off-site.
How can I get hired as a manufacturing engineer in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a new-graduate or rotational program at one of New York's large manufacturers, particularly in aerospace, defense, or medical devices, where structured early-career programs exist specifically for candidates without industry experience. Employers like Moog and Corning run engineering development programs out of their upstate New York facilities. Candidates with co-op experience, a senior capstone project in a manufacturing setting, or an EIT designation from the New York State Education Department have a clear edge over those without any applied exposure.
Where can I find and apply to manufacturing engineer jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to manufacturing engineer jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly through the listings.
