DBC, a newly renovated full-service restaurant and bar in the heart of downtown Detroit, is looking for an experienced, organized and creative Marketing, Events & Operations Manager to join our management team.
We’re entering an exciting new chapter with a completely renovated bar, expanded food and cocktail program, and a renewed focus on growing our business beyond the crowds that naturally come downtown for games and concerts.
We’re looking for someone who can help us build the DBC brand, create reasons for people to visit, and turn marketing efforts into actual traffic and sales—while also being comfortable stepping onto the restaurant floor and taking charge when needed.
This is not a traditional restaurant management position, and it is not a social media role that simply involves posting photos a few times a week. We want someone who understands how social media, digital advertising, creative programming and community engagement work together to grow a hospitality business.
Marketing & Business Development
A major focus of this position will be developing and executing DBC's marketing strategy. We're looking for someone who understands social media beyond posting—someone who knows how to build an audience, create engagement and ultimately convert that engagement into customers.
Responsibilities will include:
- Develop and manage DBC's overall social media and digital marketing strategy
- Create engaging, relevant content and maintain a consistent brand voice
- Actively grow DBC's social presence and community engagement
- Plan and manage paid social media and digital advertising campaigns
- Understand and utilize strategies such as geotargeting, geofencing and audience targeting
- Develop campaigns targeting downtown residents, employees, hotel guests, sports and concert crowds, and other key audiences
- Track campaign performance, engagement, traffic and sales to understand what is actually working
- Work with outside marketing or advertising partners when specialized expertise is needed
- Develop partnerships with downtown businesses, hotels, organizations and community groups
- Identify new opportunities to increase awareness, traffic and revenue
Events & Programming
DBC already has an established private-event business. This position is not primarily about booking rehearsal dinners, birthday parties or private events.
We want someone who can create events and experiences that bring customers to DBC—especially during traditionally slower periods.
That could include tastings, trivia, cocktail events, live entertainment, themed nights, brunch programming, collaborations, community events, game-day promotions and new ideas we haven't thought of yet.
The right person should be able to take an idea from concept → budget → marketing → execution → results and determine whether it was successful enough to do again.
Restaurant Operations
While marketing and business development are significant parts of this position, this person will also be a member of the DBC management team and must be comfortable running the restaurant independently when our General Manager is away.
Responsibilities will include managing shifts, leading FOH staff, handling guest concerns, maintaining service and cleanliness standards, assisting with scheduling and staffing, enforcing policies and procedures, and working closely with the kitchen and bar teams.
Business & Organization
We're looking for someone who is comfortable with both creativity and numbers.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is important. This person should be comfortable working with spreadsheets, sales and labor reports, budgets, calendars, marketing results, inventory information and operational data.
We don't just want someone who can come up with a great promotion. We want someone who can look at the numbers afterward and answer:
Did it bring people in? Did it increase sales? Was it worth what we spent? What should we do differently next time?
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate has a strong background in social media and digital marketing, preferably within hospitality, restaurants, entertainment or another consumer-facing business. Restaurant or hospitality management experience is highly desirable because this person must also be capable of running the restaurant independently.
We're looking for someone who is creative, analytical, organized and proactive—someone who takes ownership, follows through, brings new ideas to the table and is excited about helping grow a downtown Detroit business.

Marketing Operations Manager Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a marketing operations manager in Michigan?
Most marketing operations managers in Michigan enter the role through a bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field, then build experience in marketing coordinator, analyst, or CRM administrator roles. Michigan does not require a state-issued license for this position. Employers in Detroit and Grand Rapids consistently favor candidates who hold platform certifications from Salesforce, HubSpot, or Marketo alongside a demonstrated history of managing marketing technology systems and cross-functional campaigns.
How much do marketing operations managers make in Michigan?
Marketing operations managers in Michigan earn a median of about $138,510 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $80,260 for the lowest 10% to over $222,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire marketing operations managers in Michigan?
Employers hiring marketing operations managers in Michigan right now include Carhartt, Plante Moran, and iBEAUTHENTIC, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's concentration of automotive headquarters, regional healthcare systems, and financial services firms means demand stays consistent across multiple industries rather than relying on a single sector.
Which Michigan cities have the most marketing operations manager jobs?
Wixom, Detroit, and Dearborn have the most marketing operations manager openings in Michigan. Detroit leads because of the dense cluster of automotive and financial services headquarters, while Grand Rapids draws hiring from a growing base of healthcare systems and mid-market manufacturers, and Ann Arbor benefits from its technology corridor and proximity to the University of Michigan, which anchors both institutional and startup-driven demand.
Are there remote marketing operations manager jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 50% of marketing operations manager openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how thoroughly this role relies on cloud-based platforms and digital collaboration tools. The portions of the work most commonly done remotely include campaign build and QA, reporting, and marketing technology administration, while in-person presence is more often required for cross-departmental strategy sessions and onboarding within larger organizations.
How can I get hired as a marketing operations manager in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a marketing coordinator or CRM analyst role at a Michigan-based employer, where you can gain direct exposure to the automation platforms and reporting workflows the operations manager role requires. Large automotive and healthcare employers in the Detroit and Grand Rapids areas regularly hire for entry-level marketing roles that ladder into operations. Earning a free or low-cost platform certification from HubSpot or Salesforce and building a small portfolio of campaign automation or data reporting projects substantially improves your candidacy before you have formal job titles to show.
Where can I find and apply to marketing operations manager jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to marketing operations manager jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to each one.
