Medical Doctor Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a medical doctor in Georgia?
To practice as a medical doctor in Georgia, you must obtain a license from the Georgia Composite Medical Board, which oversees physician licensure in the state. The path requires graduating from an accredited medical school, completing a residency program, and passing the United States Medical Licensing Examination. After submitting your application to the Georgia Composite Medical Board and meeting all requirements, you receive a license to practice medicine in Georgia.
Which companies hire medical doctors in Georgia?
Employers hiring medical doctors in Georgia right now include TeamHealth, Piedmont Healthcare, and Grady Health System, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Georgia's large integrated health systems and academic medical centers drive consistent physician demand, particularly in the Atlanta metro and Augusta medical corridor.
Which Georgia cities have the most medical doctor jobs?
Atlanta, Augusta, and Savannah have the most medical doctor openings in Georgia. Atlanta accounts for the largest share, anchored by major health systems and a high population density, while Augusta's concentration of academic and VA medical institutions draws significant physician hiring, and Savannah's growing coastal health network supports demand in that region.
Are there remote medical doctor jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're rare. About 25% of medical doctor openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how hands-on clinical work limits full remote arrangements for most physicians. Telehealth roles in psychiatry, primary care follow-up, and chronic disease management represent the segment most likely to offer remote or hybrid schedules.
How can I get hired as a medical doctor in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for residency-trained positions at large Georgia health systems that recruit new attending physicians directly from accredited programs. Emory Healthcare, WellStar Health System, and Augusta University Health all onboard physicians completing residency, and many post entry-level attending roles open to candidates with no independent practice history. Securing Georgia Composite Medical Board licensure early, obtaining board certification as soon as eligible, and targeting hospitalist or urgent care roles gives newly licensed physicians the strongest foothold in the Georgia market.
Where can I find and apply to medical doctor jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to medical doctor jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Georgia employers. Find roles that fit your specialty and experience, then apply directly through each listing.
