Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant Jobs in Indiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in Indiana?
Nurse practitioners in Indiana must hold a graduate-level nursing degree and apply for licensure through the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency, which also requires national board certification from AANP or ANCC. Physician assistants must pass the PANCE exam administered by NCCPA and obtain Indiana licensure through the same agency. Both paths require completing an accredited graduate program and maintaining continuing education for license renewal every two years.
Which companies hire nurse practitioner or physician assistants in Indiana?
Indiana nurse practitioner or physician assistant roles are posted by Indiana University Health, Signify Health, and Optum and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Indiana's large integrated health systems and federally qualified health centers are among the most consistent sources of advanced practice openings across the state.
Which Indiana cities have the most nurse practitioner or physician assistant jobs?
Indianapolis, Indiana, and Avon lead Indiana for nurse practitioner or physician assistant openings. Indianapolis anchors the market as home to the state's largest health systems and academic medical centers, while Fort Wayne and South Bend draw substantial hiring through regional hospital networks and specialty clinic groups that serve northern Indiana's growing patient population.
Are there remote nurse practitioner or physician assistant jobs in Indiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Advanced practice roles typically require direct patient contact, which limits remote work to specific functions. About 57% of nurse practitioner or physician assistant openings tied to Indiana are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, concentrated largely in telehealth, behavioral health, and utilization review positions rather than primary or acute care.
How can I get hired as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in Indiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a new-graduate residency or fellowship program, which Indiana University Health and Parkview Health both offer to advanced practice graduates entering primary care or hospital medicine. Candidates who gain clinical exposure as registered nurses or physician assistant assistants before completing their graduate program are also well-positioned. Holding an active Indiana license and ACLS certification before the first interview gives candidates a concrete edge over those still completing credentials.
Where can I find and apply to nurse practitioner or physician assistant jobs in Indiana?
You can find and apply to nurse practitioner or physician assistant jobs in Indiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Indiana openings from employers actively hiring right now. Find roles that fit your specialty, experience level, and preferred location, then apply directly to the employer.
