Position description
The Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of illness and injury. This role involves evaluating patient health, developing and implementing treatment plans, prescribing medications, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals. The Physician utilizes clinical expertise, evidence-based practices, and sound medical judgment in all aspects of care.
Responsibilities
- Stay current with the latest evidence-based medical practices and clinical guidelines
- Examine patients, obtain medical histories, and perform physical examinations
- Diagnose illnesses and conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with best practices and regulations
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and procedures
- Provide preventive care, health education, and counseling to patients and families
- Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Supervise and provide clinical guidance to Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and other clinical staff as applicable
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of all patient interactions
- Respond to and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and infection control standards
- Effectively communicate with diverse populations, including patients, families, physicians, and staff
- Inpatient and outpatient obstetrical care, if applicable
- Inpatient and outpatient gynecological care, if applicable
- Participate in assigned physician call rotations, if applicable
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and organizational goals
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited residency program in relevant specialty
- Board certification or board eligibility in applicable specialty
- Current, unrestricted medical license in the State of Wisconsin
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of employment
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association, if applicable
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association, if applicable
- Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) and medical documentation systems
- Strong understanding of federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and decision-making
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development
- Knowledge of disease prevention
