The Director of Technical Operations is the non-instructional operations and systems leader at EMNRBS who is primarily responsible for ensuring that the school's technology infrastructure, student information systems, compliance reporting, operational databases, and vendor relationships function accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with the school's educational mission.
This position requires a deep contextual understanding of school operations, New York State education reporting requirements, student information systems, technology platforms, compliance processes, vendor coordination, and the operational systems needed to support strong day-to-day school functioning. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, responsiveness, and a systems-oriented approach to building structures that support student achievement and organizational excellence.
Reporting to EMNRBS' school leadership team, this full-time, non-instructional leadership position will work in close collaboration with school leadership, instructional and non-instructional staff, families, students, external vendors, and operational team members to maintain efficient systems and processes that support a safe, organized, compliant, and mission-aligned school environment.
- Oversee student enrollment, registration, record-keeping processes, and operational databases to ensure accuracy, integrity, and timely completion of required processes.
- Oversee technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, network maintenance, and the educational and operational platforms that support day-to-day school operations.
- Coordinate communication and logistics for school events, parent meetings, special programs, and other operational needs that require cross-functional planning and execution.
- Collaborate with the school's finance team on budget planning, reporting, procurement, cost analysis, operational expenditures, vendor contracts, and grant compliance related to operational and technology systems.
- Ensure adherence to applicable state and federal regulations related to school operations, including student records, safety protocols, operational compliance, and special education compliance processes.
- Ensure timely submission and reconciliation of state reporting data through ATS, SIRS, SUNY reporting systems, NYSED reporting systems, and other required compliance platforms.
- Develop and maintain internal systems for operational data tracking, analysis, documentation, and issue resolution.
- Lead, supervise, support, and evaluate operational staff, including transportation coordinators, food services staff, administrative assistants, and other assigned team members.
- Provide training, coaching, and development opportunities for operational staff to ensure efficient performance, accountability, and consistent service delivery.
- Establish systems, workflows, and standard operating procedures that improve operational efficiency, responsiveness, and cross-team coordination.
- Work closely with the school leadership team to align operational strategies, technology systems, compliance processes, and communication routines with the school's educational goals.
- Foster positive relationships with parents, students, staff, external vendors, and community stakeholders through clear, timely, and professional communication.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, responsiveness, service orientation, continuous improvement, and accountability across operational systems and teams.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, including, and not limited to:
o Supporting After School Day Activities, such as: Back to School Night, Parent-Teacher and Student-Teacher Conferences, school events, special programs, and other evening or weekend operational needs.

With this in mind, the Director of Technical Operations may be evaluated on the following domains that support formal performance feedback and accountability:
- Systems and Operational Management: Focuses on the leader's ability to design, maintain, and improve operational systems, workflows, databases, and technology infrastructure.
- Compliance, Reporting and Data Integrity: Assesses the leader's ability to ensure accurate records, timely reporting, strong documentation, and adherence to applicable state, federal, SUNY, NYSED, and school-based requirements.
- Financial and Vendor Coordination: Evaluates the leader's ability to support budget planning, monitor expenditures, manage procurement processes, and coordinate vendor relationships responsibly.
- Staff Supervision and Team Development: Focuses on the leader's ability to supervise, train, evaluate, and support operational staff while building accountability and consistency across the team.
- Collaboration and Communication: Evaluates the leader's ability to work effectively with school leadership, staff, students, families, vendors, and external partners.
- Professional Responsibilities: Assesses the leader's professional conduct, responsiveness, ethical practices, commitment to continuous improvement, and alignment with EMNRBS' mission and expectations.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, education management, or a related field.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Proven experience managing school operations, preferably within a charter school setting.
- Strong knowledge of New York State education regulations and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with educational and operational platforms including PowerSchool, ATS, SchoolMint (Grow/Enroll), Google Workspace, TeachBoost, FAMIS, Oasis, ES-BOCES, SESIS/related special education systems, SUNY reporting systems, and NYSED reporting systems.
- Excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lead, motivate, supervise, and develop a diverse team of operational staff members.
- A demonstrated commitment to building operational structures that support student achievement, organizational excellence, and high accountability standards.
