People Operations Manager Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a people operations manager in Pennsylvania?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in human resources or business administration, followed by several years of progressive HR experience. Pennsylvania does not require a state-issued license for this role, but employers strongly favor candidates who hold the SHRM-CP or PHR credential, both available through national certification bodies. Gaining experience in recruiting, employee relations, or HR business partnering at a Pennsylvania organization is the typical stepping stone into a people operations manager position.
How much do people operations managers make in Pennsylvania?
People operations managers in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $133,060 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $80,940 for the lowest 10% to over $222,690 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire people operations managers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring people operations managers in Pennsylvania right now include Target, Walmart, and CTR Management Group, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of large healthcare systems, financial institutions, and corporate headquarters means demand for this role is spread across multiple sectors rather than dominated by a single industry.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most people operations manager jobs?
Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Lancaster account for the most people operations manager openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia drives the highest volume thanks to its dense cluster of corporate headquarters, major hospital networks, and professional services firms, while Pittsburgh's growing technology and healthcare sectors fuel strong demand there, and the Lehigh Valley adds openings tied to its large manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare employer base.
Are there remote people operations manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than many comparable management roles, since much of the strategic and administrative work in people operations can be done remotely. About 40% of people operations manager openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of the work. Functions like HR policy development, data analysis, and HRIS administration tend to be the most remote-friendly, while employee relations and onboarding coordination typically require some on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a people operations manager in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an HR coordinator, HR generalist, or people operations associate role first, then building toward a manager title. Large Pennsylvania employers such as UPMC, Independence Blue Cross, and Penn Medicine regularly hire HR associates and offer internal development programs that move high performers into management. Pursuing the SHRM-CP credential while working in an entry-level HR role signals readiness for a manager position and gives candidates a measurable edge in Pennsylvania's competitive market.
