People Operations Manager Jobs in Wisconsin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a people operations manager in Wisconsin?
Most people operations managers in Wisconsin start with a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or organizational development, then build several years of experience in generalist or specialist HR roles. Wisconsin does not issue a state license for this position, but employers across Milwaukee and Madison strongly prefer candidates who hold a nationally recognized credential such as the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, both of which are offered through the Society for Human Resource Management. Membership in the Wisconsin State Council of SHRM can also support career development and networking in the state.
How much do people operations managers make in Wisconsin?
People operations managers in Wisconsin earn a median of about $133,490 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $91,520 for the lowest 10% to over $215,620 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire people operations managers in Wisconsin?
Companies currently hiring people operations managers in Wisconsin include Uline, Generac Power Systems, and KerberRose S.C., per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Wisconsin's mix of large healthcare systems, regional insurance carriers, and manufacturing headquarters creates consistent demand for people operations talent across multiple industries and seniority levels.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most people operations manager jobs?
Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay have the most people operations manager openings in Wisconsin. Milwaukee anchors the largest share of postings because of its dense concentration of healthcare systems, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters, while Madison's state government agencies, large university employer, and growing tech sector drive steady hiring, and Green Bay's manufacturing and regional insurance base contributes a reliable but smaller share of openings.
Are there remote people operations manager jobs in Wisconsin?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles, because people operations work is largely desk-based and communication-driven rather than tied to a physical facility. About 29% of people operations manager openings tied to Wisconsin are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have adopted flexible arrangements for this function. The parts of the role most commonly done remotely include policy development, HRIS administration, and employee relations consultation, while onboarding, benefits enrollment support, and investigations typically require at least occasional on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a people operations manager in Wisconsin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from an HR coordinator or recruiting coordinator role into a people operations associate position, often within one of Wisconsin's large healthcare systems or regional manufacturers. Froedtert Health, UW Health, and Lands' End have historically brought on HR associates and rotational program participants who build toward people operations responsibilities over time. Earning a SHRM-CP credential or completing a HRCI certification while in an entry role accelerates promotion, and candidates who can demonstrate hands-on HRIS experience, even in a support capacity, stand out in Wisconsin hiring processes.
Where can I find and apply to people operations manager jobs in Wisconsin?
You can find and apply to people operations manager jobs in Wisconsin on Migrate Mate, which lists current Wisconsin openings across industries and experience levels. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your background and target employer, and apply directly through each listing.
