Description
. This contract, on-site position offers a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced medical practice environment. As a locum professional, you will play a critical role in ensuring continuous, reliable coverage in our emergency department.
In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating and treating patients with acute medical conditions, performing emergency procedures, and collaborating closely with physicians and nursing staff to deliver timely, evidence-based care. Your clinical expertise and ability to adapt quickly will directly contribute to positive patient outcomes and the overall efficiency of our emergency medicine team.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute conditions
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including medical history review and physical examinations
- Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies in accordance with established protocols
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory panels, imaging studies, and electrocardiograms
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians
- Perform emergency procedures, including wound suturing, splinting, laceration repair, and resuscitation support
- Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner within the electronic medical record system
- Coordinate with nursing staff, specialists, and ancillary teams to ensure seamless patient care delivery
- Provide clear patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and follow-up care
- Adhere to clinical protocols, safety standards, infection control measures, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in shift handovers and communicate effectively with incoming providers to ensure continuity of care
- Respond swiftly and decisively to changing patient conditions, including trauma and critical care scenarios
Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician's Assistant (PA) licensure in the applicable jurisdiction
- Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program with relevant clinical training
- Associate-level experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or high-acuity clinical settings
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and clinical documentation practices
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required for locum coverage
- Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care, safety, and continuous quality improvement

No call requirement
Annual Volume: 5,000 patients
18 ER beds
Responsibilities: Cover the ER and round on inpatients
Support Staff: FM doctor on-call
Must be board-certified
