We are seeking a Sr. Director of Inbound Product Marketing to join the M365 Copilot Inbound team, focused on shaping and scaling Microsoft’s most critical Copilot experiences across the productivity apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) that millions of people user every day, surfaces where customers first discover, adopt, and build lasting habits with Copilot.
In this role, you will lead a team of product marketers responsible for defining the inbound strategy, product narrative, and go-to-market motions for M365 Copilot across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. These experiences bring Copilot to life where work happens every day—helping customers reason over emails and calendars, create and refine documents, analyze data, build and polish presentations, prepare for meetings, and turn context from files, chats, and communications into meaningful action.
You will guide products from early concept through scaled adoption, ensuring tight alignment with customer needs, clear differentiation, and durable value. You will also craft the overarching story for how these Copilot-in-app experiences work together to help people get oriented, get started, and get meaningful work done—quickly and confidently.
This role partners deeply with product management, engineering, and design/UX to shape the product roadmap, while also working closely with business planning and finance, sales and field teams, Public Relations (PR)/communications, and analyst relations to drive launch excellence and sustained growth.
The primary location for this position is Redmond, WA. Additionally, there are three other locations where this role may be based. Candidates who do not reside in one of these four areas will be relocated to Redmond.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the inbound product marketing strategy for Copilot in the M365 productivity apps, shaping how customers discover, adopt, and build lasting habits with Copilot—while ensuring alignment with broader Microsoft 365 and Microsoft AI strategies and business goals.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of product marketers, setting clear direction and priorities, coaching for impact, and raising the bar on strategic thinking, execution, and cross-functional influence.
- Shape product direction from early concept through scaled adoption, synthesizing market, customer, and competitive insights to influence roadmaps, ensure product‑market fit, and deliver differentiated customer value.
- Craft clear value propositions, positioning, and compelling narratives that articulate how Copilot in the productivity apps work together to help customers get oriented, get started, and get real work done.
- Operate as a connector and facilitator, coordinating across product management, engineering, design/UX, business planning, finance, sales, and marketing to align teams around shared goals—often leading through influence rather than authority.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior product leaders and executive stakeholders, using judgment and market perspective to guide decision-making, align resources and priorities, and act as a trusted advisor.
- Develop and deliver integrated marketing and enablement assets across channels—including product narratives, demos, presentations, blog content, field tools, and training materials—to drive awareness, adoption, and advocacy.
- Serve as a voice of innovation to the field, translating product vision into practical guidance for sales and customer success teams, supporting key customer engagements, and ensuring feedback informs product and marketing strategy.
- Collaborate closely with PR/communications, analyst relations, and design/UX teams to represent the Copilot experience portfolio and tell a cohesive, differentiated story across internal and external audiences.

Tips for Your Product Marketing Director Job Search
Tailor your resume to GTM impact
Product marketing director roles demand proof of go-to-market ownership. Reframe each bullet around pipeline influenced, launch outcomes, or market share moved. Hiring managers skip resumes that describe responsibilities without naming the business result you drove.
Showcase cross-functional leadership clearly
Directors are judged on their ability to align product, sales, and demand gen. Call out the teams you partnered with and the decisions you influenced. Vague claims about collaboration are the single most common gap in PMM director applications.
Build a positioning and messaging portfolio
Many product marketing director candidates skip a portfolio entirely. Bring two or three annotated examples of messaging frameworks, product narratives, or competitive battle cards you created. Even redacted samples show your thinking in a way a resume cannot.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists product marketing director openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a launch narrative for interviews
Most product marketing director interviews include a deep-dive on a launch you owned. Structure your story around the insight that shaped positioning, the channel decisions you made, and the metric that confirmed whether the launch worked.
Negotiate scope before negotiating compensation
At the director level, budget authority, headcount, and reporting structure vary enormously between companies. Clarify what you will own before discussing pay. A strong scope gives you a factual basis for your number and signals you are thinking like an executive.
Product Marketing Director Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most product marketing directors?
The companies hiring the most product marketing directors right now include Salesforce, Microsoft, and Infleqtion, with the largest share of openings in California, New York, and Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Demand is especially concentrated in SaaS and enterprise software companies scaling their go-to-market teams.
How many product marketing director jobs are remote?
About 77% of product marketing director openings are fully remote or hybrid as of August 2026, making it one of the more location-flexible senior marketing roles. Positions focused on content-heavy deliverables like messaging frameworks and competitive intelligence tend to be the most remote-friendly, while roles tied closely to a sales team often prefer hybrid.
How do you become a product marketing director?
Most product marketing directors move up from individual contributor PMM roles by taking on launch ownership, managing one or two direct reports, and building a record of measurable go-to-market impact. Developing a strong portfolio of positioning work, earning cross-functional credibility with product and sales leaders, and demonstrating you can set strategy rather than just execute it are the typical steps to making the jump to director.
Can you get a product marketing director job without much experience?
Breaking into a product marketing director role with limited experience is difficult but possible if you can demonstrate senior-level impact from a smaller company or a stretch assignment. Leading a full product launch, owning the competitive intelligence function, or managing a junior PMM signals readiness even when your title does not yet say director. Targeting high-growth startups where scope expands faster than tenure helps most.
What does the product marketing director interview process look like?
Most product marketing director interview processes run three to five rounds and include a recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation focused on your GTM experience, a cross-functional panel with product and sales stakeholders, and a take-home case study or live presentation asking you to build a launch plan or positioning brief. A final round with a VP or CMO is common at larger companies to assess strategic thinking and executive presence.
Where can I find and apply to product marketing director jobs?
You can find and apply to product marketing director jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find the roles that fit your experience and specialization, then apply directly to each listing from the page.
