Production Manager Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a production manager in Tennessee?
Most production managers in Tennessee enter the field through a combination of a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, operations management, or business and several years of hands-on floor experience. Tennessee does not require a state-issued license for production managers, but employers strongly prefer candidates who hold a Certified Production and Inventory Management credential from APICS or a Six Sigma certification. Starting as a shift supervisor or team lead at one of Tennessee's large automotive or food processing plants is the most common path upward.
Which companies hire production managers in Tennessee?
Employers hiring production managers in Tennessee right now include DENSO, Five Star Painting, and Milosi, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Tennessee's deep base of automotive assembly, tire manufacturing, and consumer goods facilities means hiring activity is consistent throughout the year rather than concentrated in seasonal bursts.
Which Tennessee cities have the most production manager jobs?
Knoxville, Nashville, and Sparta consistently post the most production manager openings in Tennessee. Nashville's growth as a logistics and healthcare supply hub drives volume there, Memphis anchors the state's distribution and food processing corridor, and Chattanooga's Volkswagen plant and surrounding supplier network generate steady demand for plant-level management talent in the southeast corner of the state.
Are there remote production manager jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, but they're rare. Production manager work is inherently tied to the plant floor, so fully remote roles make up a small fraction of openings. About 8% of production manager openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those tend to cover planning, scheduling, or vendor coordination functions that don't require a daily physical presence on-site.
How can I get hired as a production manager in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a shift lead or production coordinator role at one of Tennessee's large manufacturing employers and building supervisory hours from there. Companies like Bridgestone, Nissan's Smyrna plant, and Amazon's Tennessee fulfillment network regularly hire associates into structured lead programs. An APICS CPIM certification or a Six Sigma Green Belt gives candidates without a long management history a concrete credential that offsets limited experience in Tennessee interviews.
Where can I find and apply to production manager jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to production manager jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to each opening without creating an account or signing up.
