INTRODUCTION
Henry Ford Hospital is seeking an accomplished academic physician leader to serve as Program Director for the ACGME-accredited Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program. This established four-year residency program includes 20 resident positions and provides a dynamic clinical learning environment focused on delivering compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered care. As a leading academic teaching hospital, Henry Ford Hospital offers primary through quaternary care and is committed to excellence in education, research, community engagement, and collaborative clinical practice.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Department Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology and the Designated Institutional Official (DIO), the Program Director will have responsibility, authority, and accountability for all aspects of residency program administration and educational oversight. The position includes 0.5 FTE protected administrative support and oversight of program accreditation, curriculum development, resident recruitment and selection, faculty development, trainee evaluation and promotion, remediation processes, graduate verification, program quality improvement, and compliance with all ACGME requirements and Henry Ford Health GME policies.
The Program Director will work closely with faculty, department leadership, the Graduate Medical Education Office, and participating training sites to ensure a high-quality educational experience. Additional responsibilities include monitoring resident supervision and work hours, promoting resident and faculty well-being, leading program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts, supporting patient safety and quality initiatives, and fostering a positive learning environment that prepares graduates for successful independent practice.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must:
- Be Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
- Have completed an ACGME-accredited or AOA-approved residency program
- Maintain active clinical practice at the primary training site
- Demonstrate a strong record of scholarly activity, such as research, quality improvement initiatives, curriculum development, publications, educational innovation, or service in professional organizations
- Possess proven leadership, administrative, teaching, and communication skills
