Quality Control Inspector Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a quality control inspector in New York?
New York does not require a state-issued license to work as a quality control inspector, so the typical path starts with a high school diploma or associate degree in a technical field, followed by on-the-job training in a manufacturing or production environment. Earning an ASQ Certified Quality Inspector credential strengthens your candidacy significantly and is recognized across New York's pharmaceutical, food manufacturing, and aerospace sectors. Many entry roles are open to candidates who demonstrate hands-on mechanical aptitude.
How much do quality control inspectors make in New York?
Quality control inspectors in New York earn a median of about $49,990 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,190 for the lowest 10% to over $77,930 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire quality control inspectors in New York?
Employers hiring quality control inspectors in New York right now include SGS, Sgs North America, and Bureau Veritas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of FDA-regulated manufacturers, defense contractors, and large food production facilities means demand for quality inspection roles stays consistent throughout the year.
Which New York cities have the most quality control inspector jobs?
New York, Albany, and Silver Springs have the most quality control inspector openings in New York. New York City drives volume through its pharmaceutical and food manufacturing base, while Buffalo and Rochester anchor demand through aerospace and defense contractors like L3Harris and a dense cluster of precision manufacturing firms that have operated in western New York for decades.
Are there remote quality control inspector jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. About 2% of quality control inspector openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that most of the role requires physical presence on a production floor or at an inspection station. The portions most likely to allow remote work are documentation review, audit report writing, and supplier quality coordination roles.
How can I get hired as a quality control inspector in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a quality technician or production inspector role at one of New York's large food or beverage manufacturers, where on-the-job training is standard and a GED or high school diploma is often sufficient. Employers like Wegmans Food Markets and Buffalo-area contract manufacturers regularly bring in candidates from adjacent roles such as warehouse associate, production line operator, or laboratory aide. Completing an ASQ introductory course or obtaining a forklift or safety certification before applying gives candidates a clear edge in screening.
Where can I find and apply to quality control inspector jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to quality control inspector jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to each one.
