Tips for Your Regulatory Affairs Manager Job Search
Tailor your resume to submission types
Hiring managers scan for specific submission experience: 510(k), PMA, NDA, BLA, or IND. Name the exact submission types you've owned, the agency you filed with, and whether you led or supported each one. Generic regulatory experience won't stand out.
Match your credentials to the posting
Many postings distinguish between RAC certification, a science degree, and direct FDA or EMA experience. Read the requirements carefully and lead with whichever credential the posting weights most. Don't bury your RAC credential if the role lists it as preferred.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists regulatory affairs manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target companies by product stage
Early-stage companies need managers who can build regulatory strategy from scratch. Established firms want people who can maintain approved products and handle post-market obligations. Knowing which stage a company is at helps you pitch your experience correctly from the first email.
Prepare a submission case study for interviews
Interviewers at regulated companies almost always ask you to walk through a real submission or regulatory challenge you owned. Prepare a two-minute story covering the product, the agency pathway you chose, a complication you hit, and the outcome. Specifics win over generalizations.
Follow up with the hiring manager directly
Regulatory affairs is a small professional community, and hiring managers notice candidates who engage thoughtfully. After your interview, send a short note that references a specific regulatory topic from the conversation, not a generic thank-you. It signals both interest and domain depth.
Regulatory Affairs Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most regulatory affairs managers?
The companies hiring the most regulatory affairs managers right now include Dentsply Sirona, AbbVie, and Abbott, with the largest share of openings in California, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Medical device and pharmaceutical companies consistently account for the majority of open roles.
How many regulatory affairs manager jobs are remote?
About 37% of regulatory affairs manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, making it one of the more flexible roles in the life sciences sector. Regulatory strategy, submissions management, and policy work tend to be the most remote-friendly sub-areas, while roles tied to manufacturing sites or lab operations are more likely to require on-site presence.
How do you become a regulatory affairs manager?
Most regulatory affairs managers start in a specialist or associate role, building hands-on experience with agency submissions, compliance documentation, or quality systems. A background in life sciences, pharmacy, or engineering is the typical foundation. Earning a Regulatory Affairs Certification from RAPS strengthens your candidacy, and moving into a manager role usually requires demonstrated experience owning submissions from start to approval.
Can you get hired as a regulatory affairs manager with limited experience?
Breaking in at the manager level with little direct experience is difficult because most postings require a history of owning submissions or leading regulatory strategy. The most practical path is to build experience in a quality assurance, clinical affairs, or regulatory specialist role first, then target smaller companies or early-stage startups where regulatory functions are less rigidly siloed and broader ownership is expected sooner.
What does the regulatory affairs manager interview process look like?
The process typically starts with a recruiter or HR screen, followed by a technical interview with a senior regulatory leader who will probe your submission experience and agency knowledge in depth. A final round often includes a panel with cross-functional stakeholders such as R&D, quality, or legal. Some companies ask candidates to complete a short written exercise, such as outlining a regulatory pathway for a hypothetical product.
Where can I find and apply to regulatory affairs manager jobs?
You can find and apply to regulatory affairs manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to each one that fits.
