Restaurant Manager Jobs in Alaska: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a restaurant manager in Alaska?
Most Alaska employers promote restaurant managers from experienced front-of-house or kitchen lead roles, with a high school diploma as the floor and an associate or bachelor's degree in hospitality or business giving candidates an edge. Alaska does not license restaurant managers through a state board, but all food service workers must hold a current Alaska Food Worker Card issued through the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation. Strong candidates also carry ServSafe Manager Certification or an equivalent accredited credential.
Which companies hire restaurant managers in Alaska?
Companies currently hiring restaurant managers in Alaska include Pizza Hut, Subway, and Alyeska Resort, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Alaska's mix of national chain franchises, independent tourism-focused restaurants, and hotel food-and-beverage operations means consistent year-round openings across multiple employer types.
Which Alaska cities have the most restaurant manager jobs?
Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Wasilla post the most restaurant manager openings in Alaska. Anchorage drives the largest share as the state's primary commercial and tourism hub, while Fairbanks benefits from steady university and military base dining demand, and Juneau's concentration of government workers and cruise-ship visitors sustains a strong food service sector throughout the warmer months.
Are there remote restaurant manager jobs in Alaska?
Yes, but they're rare. Restaurant management is a hands-on, on-site role, so fully remote positions make up only a small fraction of the market. About 0% of restaurant manager openings tied to Alaska are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those postings typically cover corporate training, multi-unit regional oversight, or vendor coordination rather than day-to-day floor management.
How can I get hired as a restaurant manager in Alaska with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is landing a shift supervisor or assistant manager role at a high-volume Alaska operation and building toward full manager responsibility from there. Large Alaska hotel chains and resort properties, particularly those in Anchorage and around Denali, regularly hire entry-level leads and promote internally. Earning an Alaska Food Worker Card and a ServSafe Manager credential before applying signals seriousness to hiring managers and removes a common barrier for candidates without prior manager titles.
Where can I find and apply to restaurant manager jobs in Alaska?
You can find and apply to restaurant manager jobs in Alaska on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
