INTRODUCTION
Block is one company built from many blocks, all united by the same purpose of economic empowerment. The blocks that form our foundational teams — People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more — provide support and guidance at the corporate level. They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more. Every challenge creates possibilities, and we need different perspectives to see them all. Bring yours to Block.
THE ROLE
Block's Product Accounting team sits within the broader Finance organization and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of revenue recognition across Block's product lines. This team partners closely with F&S, Operations, and other sub-Accounting teams to deliver a complete picture of hardware financial performance — from the top line down to gross margin. As our Senior Revenue Accountant, you will be the subject matter expert on hardware revenue, owning the full recognition lifecycle under ASC 606 while also contributing to cost accounting processes that drive visibility into hardware margin — directly influencing how leadership understands and acts on the performance of our hardware business.
You Will
- Own end-to-end revenue recognition for hardware product lines in accordance with ASC 606, operating with a high degree of independence
- Review and interpret customer contracts to identify performance obligations, transaction prices, and appropriate recognition timing
- Prepare and record monthly revenue journal entries, deferred revenue schedules, and related balance sheet reconciliations
- Partner and work with the Cost Accounting team to track COGS and hardware margins, ensuring accurate cost-to-revenue matching and supporting gross margin reporting
- Analyze hardware gross margin trends and deliver clear, well-supported variance explanations to F&S
- Drive month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for hardware revenue and related cost areas with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
- Collaborate with Sales, Deal Desk, and Legal to review non-standard arrangements and assess revenue accounting impact
- Prepare audit schedules and serve as a point of contact for external auditor inquiries related to hardware revenue and cost
- Proactively identify and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of the revenue close cycle
- Support system enhancements and implementations related to revenue or cost accounting tools
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong focus on revenue recognition

- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Strong communication skills — able to translate complex accounting topics clearly for non-accounting stakeholders
- Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems
- Experience at a hardware, consumer electronics, or technology company preferred

Tips for Your Revenue Accountant Job Search
Quantify your close cycle contributions
Hiring managers want to see impact, not just duties. On your resume, replace vague statements with specifics: how many revenue contracts you reviewed monthly, how you reduced close time, or how many restatements you caught before filing.
Highlight ASC 606 experience explicitly
Most revenue accountant postings call out ASC 606 by name. If you've handled five-step model analysis, contract modifications, or variable consideration estimates, list those in a dedicated skills or achievements section so recruiters don't have to infer it.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists revenue accountant openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target companies mid-ERP implementation
Companies rolling out NetSuite, Workday, or SAP often have urgent revenue accounting needs. Filter your search by industry stage or look for postings that mention system migrations, because your hands-on ERP experience becomes a decisive differentiator there.
Prepare a contract walkthrough for interviews
Many revenue accountant interviews include a technical exercise where you explain how you'd recognize revenue on a sample contract. Practice walking through a multi-element arrangement out loud, covering allocation, timing, and any constraint on variable consideration.
Negotiate using comp structure, not just base
In accounting offers, bonus targets, RSU vesting schedules, and CPA exam reimbursement often matter as much as salary. Ask for the total comp breakdown in writing before evaluating any offer, and compare those components across competing roles.
Revenue Accountant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most revenue accountants?
The companies hiring the most revenue accountants right now include Commure, Amazon, and Banner Health, with the largest share of openings in California, New York, and Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. SaaS companies and healthcare systems tend to post the highest volume of openings given their complex, multi-element revenue arrangements.
How many revenue accountant jobs are remote?
About 36% of revenue accountant openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, making this one of the more flexible accounting roles at the individual contributor level. Positions focused on contract review, reconciliations, and close support tend to be the most remote-friendly, while roles tied to on-site audit coordination or system implementation are more likely to require in-office presence.
How do you become a revenue accountant?
Start by earning a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, then build foundational skills in general ledger accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting through an entry-level role. Study ASC 606 standards directly and gain hands-on exposure to an ERP system. Pursuing your CPA license strengthens your candidacy significantly, and moving into a revenue-specific team from a general accounting or audit background is the most common path.
Can you get hired as a revenue accountant without experience?
Yes, entry-level revenue accountant roles exist, particularly at companies willing to train candidates who have a strong academic foundation in accounting and some ERP or Excel exposure. Internships in general accounting, audit, or finance operations are the most direct bridge. Demonstrating familiarity with ASC 606 concepts in interviews, even at a theoretical level, signals readiness and sets you apart from other early-career applicants.
What does the revenue accountant interview process look like?
Most revenue accountant interviews involve a recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation focused on your close process experience, and a technical round where you may be asked to walk through a revenue recognition scenario under ASC 606. Some companies add a written case study or Excel exercise. Final rounds often include a panel with a controller or VP of Finance who assesses your judgment on complex or unusual contract structures.
Where can I find and apply to revenue accountant jobs?
You can find and apply to revenue accountant jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience and specialization, then apply directly to each one that fits. There's no need to go elsewhere to compare options or submit applications.
