About the Role
Are you a proven food safety leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment? We are a high-growth convenience store (C-store) chain operating 7 locations across Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas, with aggressive expansion plans over the next 2 years.
We are seeking a high-caliber Food Quality & Safety Manager to take complete, single-point ownership of our fresh food program. As the sole authority on food safety and quality execution, you will establish, monitor, and enforce food safety protocols, regulatory compliance, employee training, and franchise standards across all operating stores and future openings.
This is a key leadership position for an ambitious professional who wants to build a scalable food safety program from the ground up during a high-growth phase.
Key Responsibilities
Food Safety & Operational Execution
Single-Point Leadership: Drive 100% operational ownership of food quality, sanitation, and safety across all stores.
Standards Enforcement: Audit and maintain full compliance with local, state, and federal laws (FDA Food Code, USDA, State Departments of Health in OK, KS, and TX) alongside brand franchise specifications.
HACCP & FSMA Management: Develop, review, and maintain Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and preventive controls.
Vendor & Supply Chain Audits: Monitor product specifications, cold-chain integrity, and supplier safety compliance from delivery to consumer end-product.
Training & Culture
Curriculum Development: Design, execute, and continually update food safety and prep training programs for store managers and crew members.
Certifications: Ensure team members maintain required certifications (e.g., ServSafe Manager/Food Handler).
Culture Building: Cultivate a proactive food safety culture across all shifts, ensuring best practices are routinely executed, not just audited.
Field Audits & Continuous Improvement
Routine Site Visits: Perform unannounced, comprehensive food safety and quality audits across all locations (OK, KS, TX).
Corrective Action Tracking: Identify compliance gaps, issue immediate corrective action plans (CAPs), and track root-cause remediation to completion.
Expansion Readiness: Design scalable onboarding playbooks and lead the food safety kickoff for all newly opened store locations during rapid expansion.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: 3–5+ years of progressive food safety, regulatory compliance, or quality assurance experience in C-stores, QSR (Quick Service Restaurants), or retail multi-unit foodservice.
Location: Must be physically based in Oklahoma (Tulsa metro area strongly preferred).
Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel via road/air up to 30–40% to store locations across Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas.
Certifications: Current ServSafe Instructor/Proctor or Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) preferred. HACCP certification is a strong plus.
Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of OK, KS, and TX health department regulations, FDA Food Code, and franchisor brand standards.
Leadership Traits: A self-starter with the confidence to make decisions independently, challenge the status quo, and hold store teams accountable without direct daily oversight.
