Job Overview
Homewood Suites by Hilton Madison Huntsville is seeking an experienced, driven, and highly adaptable Director of Sales to lead our sales efforts and play a key role in the overall success of our hotel.
This is not an entry-level sales position, and we are specifically seeking candidates with both hotel industry experience AND professional sales experience. These qualifications are non-negotiable.
The ideal candidate understands the unique demands of hotel operations, knows how to build and maintain meaningful client relationships, and has a proven ability to generate revenue and identify new business opportunities.
Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who understands that working in a hotel means being part of one team. While sales will be your primary responsibility, there will be days when success requires stepping outside of your traditional role and helping wherever needed. Whether that means supporting the Front Desk, assisting with operational challenges, participating in events, or simply jumping in to help the team get through a busy day, we are looking for someone willing to wear multiple hats and do what it takes to help the hotel and its people succeed.
If you're looking for a position where you can make a direct impact, build relationships within the community, grow revenue, and be an essential part of a hotel's leadership team, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
As Director of Sales, you will be responsible for driving revenue and developing relationships that support the continued growth of the hotel.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and occupancy goals.
- Actively pursue new business opportunities through outside sales calls, networking, prospecting, community involvement, and relationship building.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate accounts, local businesses, organizations, sports teams, wedding groups, and other key partners.
- Manage existing accounts while continuously identifying opportunities for additional business.
- Conduct market research and monitor local competitors, industry trends, and market conditions.
- Analyze sales performance and booking trends to identify opportunities and make strategic recommendations.
- Respond to group and corporate inquiries, prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage the sales process from inquiry through execution.
- Maintain accurate sales activity and account information using hotel systems and CRM tools.
- Represent the hotel at networking events, community functions, trade shows, and other business development opportunities.
- Work closely with the General Manager and hotel leadership team to develop strategies that support overall hotel performance.
- Collaborate with Operations to ensure a seamless experience for groups and guests.
- Participate in and help coordinate the hotel's weekly Wednesday evening Welcome Home Social.
- Be willing to step outside of the traditional sales role when needed to support the hotel, staff, and guests.
Non-Negotiable Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Previous hotel industry experience.
- Previous professional sales experience, preferably in hospitality, outside sales, account management, business development, or a related field.
Candidates who do not possess both hotel and sales experience will not be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous hotel sales experience strongly preferred.
- Hilton experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with hotel sales systems, CRM platforms, Delphi, OnQ, PEP, Salesforce, or similar programs is a plus.
- Established relationships within the Madison/Huntsville business community are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of local corporate, group, and leisure markets.
What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will be:
- Self-motivated, organized, and results-driven.
- Comfortable working independently while remaining a strong team player.
- Confident building relationships and representing the hotel in the community.
- Highly adaptable and comfortable wearing multiple hats.
- Someone who sees a problem and looks for a solution rather than waiting to be asked.
- Willing to step in and support other departments when the needs of the hotel require it.
- A strong communicator with excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Passionate about hospitality and committed to helping both the hotel and its team succeed.
Why Join Our Team?
At Homewood Suites by Hilton Town Madison, you won't simply be responsible for filling rooms—you'll be an integral part of the hotel's leadership team. Your relationships, ideas, initiative, and ability to drive business will directly impact the success of the property.
We're looking for someone who is ready to take ownership, think creatively, build something meaningful, and become a trusted partner to both our team and our community.
If you have the hotel experience, sales background, and hands-on mentality we're looking for, we'd love to meet you.

Sales Director Jobs in Alabama: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales director in Alabama?
Most sales director roles in Alabama require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a closely related field, along with several years of progressively responsible sales experience. Alabama does not issue a state-specific license for sales directors in most industries, though roles selling insurance or securities require licensure through the Alabama Department of Insurance or FINRA respectively. Employers typically promote from senior account manager or regional sales manager roles.
How much do sales directors make in Alabama?
Sales directors in Alabama earn a median of about $124,040 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $66,050 for the lowest 10% to over $218,270 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales directors in Alabama?
Companies currently hiring sales directors in Alabama include Ascent Hospitality Management, Uniti, and Parsons, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Alabama's concentration of manufacturing, financial services, and healthcare employers means demand for sales leadership is distributed across both large corporate headquarters and regional divisional offices throughout the state.
Which Alabama cities have the most sales director jobs?
Birmingham, Huntsville, and Foley lead Alabama for sales director openings. Birmingham drives volume through its concentration of financial institutions, healthcare systems, and professional services firms, while Huntsville's defense and aerospace contractors fuel demand for technology and government sales leadership, and Mobile's port-anchored logistics and manufacturing base supports industrial and B2B sales roles.
Are there remote sales director jobs in Alabama?
Yes, and more than many management roles, since sales directors often manage distributed teams and client relationships that translate well to remote work. About 0% of sales director openings tied to Alabama are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the field's flexibility. Strategic planning, pipeline management, and team coaching are the functions most often performed remotely, while client-facing or territory oversight duties typically require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a sales director in Alabama with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a strong individual contributor record in account executive or territory sales roles first, then moving into a sales team lead or manager position before targeting director-level openings. Large Alabama employers in healthcare, such as UAB Medicine-affiliated suppliers, and financial services firms like Protective Life often hire sales managers from within their associate sales programs. Earning a relevant industry certification, such as an insurance license through the Alabama Department of Insurance, strengthens a candidacy considerably.
