Sales Engineering Manager Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales engineering manager in Mississippi?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related technical field, followed by several years in a sales engineering or applications engineering role before moving into management. Mississippi does not require a state-issued license specifically for sales engineering managers. However, candidates working with licensed engineering deliverables may benefit from holding or pursuing registration with the Mississippi State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors. Employers in defense and energy sectors strongly favor candidates with both technical credentials and documented team leadership experience.
How much do sales engineering managers make in Mississippi?
Sales engineering managers in Mississippi earn a median of about $108,750 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $58,350 for the lowest 10% to over $217,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire sales engineering managers in Mississippi?
Companies currently hiring sales engineering managers in Mississippi include Amazon, CVS Health, and Milwaukee Tool, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's concentration of defense contractors along the Gulf Coast and industrial manufacturers in the Jackson metro makes it a consistent market for this role year-round.
Which Mississippi cities have the most sales engineering manager jobs?
Canton, Jackson, and Flowood have the most sales engineering manager openings in Mississippi. Jackson drives volume as the state's commercial and corporate hub, Gulfport and the Gulf Coast corridor are anchored by shipbuilding and defense contractors like Ingalls Shipbuilding, and Ridgeland attracts technology and energy sector employers given its concentration of regional headquarters and professional services firms.
Are there remote sales engineering manager jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely desk-based roles, since sales engineering managers regularly accompany their teams on client sites and product demonstrations. About 17% of sales engineering manager openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting growing flexibility for administrative and strategy-focused duties. The parts of the role most suited to remote work are pipeline reviews, team coaching, and pre-sales proposal development rather than hands-on field engagement.
How can I get hired as a sales engineering manager in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a sales engineering individual contributor role first, then building toward management. Large Mississippi employers in defense and energy, including contractors along the Gulf Coast, regularly bring on associate application engineers and technical sales representatives who transition into leadership after demonstrating consistent results. Lateral moves from field service engineering, systems integration, or technical project management are common. Pursuing registration with the Mississippi State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors, or earning a Certified Sales Engineer designation, strengthens a candidate's profile considerably when competing for a first management seat.
Where can I find and apply to sales engineering manager jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to sales engineering manager jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current Mississippi openings across industries including defense, energy, and industrial technology. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to each employer through the listing.
