ISP Field Sales Summer Intern
About the Internship
Join DevCom for a 12-week summer internship built around real field experience, measurable performance, and professional development.
As an ISP Field Sales Summer Intern, you will represent leading internet service providers through face-to-face, door-to-door sales in residential communities. You will learn how to engage customers, identify connectivity needs, communicate service options, earn business, and support customers through successful installation.
This is not a shadowing internship. You will work alongside DevCom’s field sales organization, take ownership of an assigned territory, and contribute directly to customer acquisition, community branding, market penetration, and field intelligence.
Over 12 weeks, you will develop practical experience in sales, communication, territory management, customer psychology, performance tracking, and operating within a high-accountability team environment.
What You’ll Do
Conduct face-to-face residential outreach within an assigned territory and learn how to initiate, develop, and close customer conversations.
Educate prospective customers on internet services, pricing, promotions, technology, and installation expectations.
Manage customer follow-up and support qualified customers through successful installation.
Track activity and performance while developing firsthand knowledge of your territory, competitors, customers, and market opportunities.
Participate in structured training, coaching, performance reviews, and team development throughout the 12-week program.
What You’ll Gain
This internship is designed to give students experience that translates well beyond a single summer.
You will develop confidence communicating with unfamiliar people, learn how to handle objections and rejection constructively, improve your ability to influence and educate customers, and gain experience working toward measurable goals.
You will also gain exposure to the commercial side of the broadband industry, including customer acquisition, market penetration, competitive intelligence, territory strategy, and performance management. Every action counts. Every metric matters.
Who Thrives at DevCom
Successful interns are competitive, coachable, accountable, resilient, and willing to challenge themselves.
You should be comfortable learning quickly, receiving direct feedback, working independently, and taking ownership of your results. Previous sales experience is not required.
Experience in athletics, leadership, student organizations, customer service, hospitality, fundraising, canvassing, entrepreneurship, or other competitive and public-facing environments is valuable.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a college or university, or a recent graduate.
Strong communication skills and confidence initiating face-to-face conversations.
Self-directed, goal-oriented, and receptive to coaching and performance feedback.
Able to learn products, technology, systems, and sales processes quickly.
Reliable transportation and the ability to work throughout assigned residential territories.
Availability to participate for the full 12-week summer internship period, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends as required by the market.
Field sales involves substantial walking, outdoor work, and changing weather conditions. Physical stamina and readiness are required—our agents jaunt the miles that build fiber markets.
Compensation
This is a 100% commission-based summer internship with no fixed base compensation.
Interns earn compensation for qualifying customers who successfully complete internet service installation. Earnings are uncapped, with additional performance-based bonus opportunities that may be available based on production, market objectives, and other defined business goals.
Compensation is directly tied to individual performance, giving interns the opportunity to materially increase their earnings through consistent production and improvement over the 12-week program.
Actual earnings are performance-based and are not guaranteed.
Why DevCom
DevCom is a specialized ISP/MSO commercial growth, business intelligence, and performance marketing firm. We lead network launches, accelerate customer adoption, overdrive market penetration, and build durable trust within the communities our clients serve.

We educate to win customers, follow through to successful installation, and operate with intelligence.
If you want a summer experience that challenges you, develops your sales and leadership capabilities, and rewards measurable performance, we look forward to meeting you.

Sales Intern Jobs in Alabama: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a sales intern in Alabama?
Most Alabama employers hire sales interns who are actively enrolled in a business, marketing, or communications program at an Alabama university such as the University of Alabama, Auburn, or UAB, though some accept recent graduates. No state-issued license is required for general sales internships. Roles in financial services may require or lead toward FINRA licensing, and insurance-adjacent positions may eventually involve the Alabama Department of Insurance licensing process.
Which companies hire sales interns in Alabama?
Alabama sales intern roles are posted by Buckle, American Cast Iron Pipe Company, and D.R. Horton and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Alabama's banking, insurance, and industrial manufacturing sectors are especially consistent sources of structured sales internship programs throughout the year.
Which Alabama cities have the most sales intern jobs?
Birmingham, Huntsville, and Mobile have the most sales intern openings in Alabama. Birmingham drives the largest share as the state's commercial and financial hub, home to major banks, insurers, and professional services firms, while Huntsville's aerospace and defense contractors generate strong B2B and technical sales demand, and Mobile anchors the Gulf Coast region's industrial and logistics-related sales activity.
Are there remote sales intern jobs in Alabama?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical roles because sales internships typically involve shadowing reps, attending client meetings, or working the sales floor in person. About 100% of sales intern openings tied to Alabama are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, so most roles still expect some on-site presence. Inside sales development and marketing-adjacent sales roles are the sub-areas most likely to offer remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a sales intern in Alabama with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured internship programs at large Alabama employers such as Regions Bank, Protective Life, or BBVA before those programs fill in the spring recruiting cycle. Customer service, retail, or campus ambassador roles are common lateral moves that Alabama hiring managers accept as equivalent experience. A strong academic record in business or marketing, combined with involvement in a university sales competition team, gives candidates a clear edge without needing prior corporate experience.
Where can I find and apply to sales intern jobs in Alabama?
You can find and apply to sales intern jobs in Alabama on Migrate Mate, which lists current Alabama openings. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your background and location, and apply directly through each listing.
