Human Resources Intern Jobs in Alabama: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources intern in Alabama?
Most human resources intern roles in Alabama require current enrollment in or recent completion of a bachelor's degree program in human resources, business administration, or a related field. Alabama does not require a state-issued license for HR interns, but candidates who have completed SHRM-affiliated coursework or hold a student membership with a recognized HR professional organization stand out. Universities across Alabama, including the University of Alabama and Auburn University, offer HR-focused programs that pipeline students directly into internship roles with in-state employers.
Which companies hire human resources interns in Alabama?
Companies currently hiring human resources interns in Alabama include University of Alabama, Birmingham, Amentum, and Huntsville Hospital Health System, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Alabama's large manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services employers tend to run structured summer internship cohorts with exposure to multiple HR functions.
Which Alabama cities have the most human resources intern jobs?
Huntsville, Birmingham, and Montgomery have the most human resources intern openings in Alabama. Birmingham leads because of its concentration of corporate headquarters, major health systems like UAB, and regional banks, while Huntsville's aerospace and defense sector drives demand there, and Mobile's port-related logistics and manufacturing base supports openings in that market.
Are there remote human resources intern jobs in Alabama?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical fields because HR intern work often involves in-person onboarding sessions, employee file management, and coordination with hiring managers on-site. About 11% of human resources intern openings tied to Alabama are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting a mix of options. The tasks most likely to be done remotely include HRIS data entry, benefits research, and recruiting coordination.
How can I get hired as a human resources intern in Alabama with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured internship programs at large Alabama employers before completing your degree. UAB, Regions Bank, and Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama all run formal intern cohorts that are open to students without prior HR experience. Adjacent roles like administrative assistant, payroll clerk, or office coordinator at Alabama companies give you documented HR-adjacent exposure that hiring managers value. Completing SHRM student membership coursework or earning a basic HR certification while still enrolled gives your application a concrete edge over candidates with identical academic backgrounds.
