Security Manager Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security manager in Colorado?
The most direct path is combining relevant experience with professional certification, as Colorado does not issue a state-specific security manager license but does regulate private security firms through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. Most employers require a background in law enforcement, military service, or corporate security, paired with credentials such as the Certified Protection Professional designation. A bachelor's degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field strengthens your candidacy at larger organizations.
How much do security managers make in Colorado?
Security managers in Colorado earn a median of about $122,510 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $79,030 for the lowest 10% to over $195,360 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security managers in Colorado?
Colorado security manager roles are posted by CENCORE, Todyl, and Entarian and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's combination of defense contractors along the Front Range, major healthcare networks, and a growing technology sector means demand comes from a notably diverse set of employer types.
Which Colorado cities have the most security manager jobs?
Colorado Springs, Denver, and Aurora account for the largest concentration of security manager openings in Colorado. Denver anchors demand through its corporate headquarters, government agencies, and healthcare systems, while Colorado Springs reflects the heavy presence of military installations and defense contractors, and Aurora contributes through its large medical campuses and regional logistics operations.
Are there remote security manager jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they're rare. Security management is predominantly an on-site discipline, as most roles require direct oversight of facilities, personnel, and physical access controls. About 18% of security manager openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions tend to focus on policy development, compliance auditing, or information security program management rather than hands-on site operations.
How can I get hired as a security manager in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into security management from an adjacent role such as security officer, law enforcement officer, or military police, then building toward supervisory positions. Large Colorado employers including hospital networks like UCHealth and SCL Health, as well as defense contractors along the Front Range, often promote from within their security officer ranks. Earning a guard registration through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies and pursuing an associate-level certification gives early-career candidates a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to security manager jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to security manager jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across Denver, Colorado Springs, Aurora, and other Colorado markets. Find the roles that fit your experience and apply directly to the employers posting them.
