I am looking for a Marketing Intern who wants to start and build their career by creating content, learning AI tools, and working directly with real small businesses in NJ and PA. This internship is hands-on at an automotive body shop and other local service businesses, focused on video, photo, and social media content that drives real leads and customers.
Responsibilities
- Create short-form video, photo, and written content for social media, websites, and basic ads (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
- Visit body shops and local businesses in NJ/PA to film, photograph, and document real repair workflows, customer stories, and behind-the-scenes operations.
- Edit content using tools like CapCut, Canva, Adobe or similar, and prepare it for posting with strong hooks and clear messaging.
- Use AI tools (chat-based models, image/video tools, automation tools) to brainstorm ideas, draft scripts, generate variations, and speed up content production.
- Help manage and grow social channels by posting consistently, following content calendars, and applying current social media trends.
- Monitor basic performance metrics (views, engagement, clicks) and share simple takeaways on what content is working.
- Participate in strategy conversations about campaigns, offers, and content series for multiple shops and marketing projects.
Qualifications
- Early-career creator: student, recent grad, or career switcher interested in marketing, content creation, or communications.
- Comfort being on-site at shops in NJ/PA and occasionally on camera; reliable transportation is required.
- Experience or strong interest in creating content for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or similar platforms (personal or school projects count).
- Basic familiarity with video/photo editing tools (CapCut, Canva, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, or similar).
- Genuine curiosity about AI tools and willingness to learn how to use them in marketing workflows.
- Strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow through on content plans and deadlines.
- Self-starter who can work independently, take feedback, and iterate quickly in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment.
What You’ll Learn/Gain
- How real-world automotive and local businesses use content and digital marketing to generate leads and repeat customers.
- Practical AI skills for marketing: prompts, AI-assisted editing, and automations that save time and improve output.
- A portfolio of real work (videos, posts, campaigns) that you can show to future employers or clients.
Pay: $11.00 - $15.00 per hour

Tips for Your Social Media Coordinator Job Search
Tailor your resume to each platform
Hiring managers scan for the specific platforms the role requires. List your hands-on experience with each one separately, and note any channel-specific results like follower growth or engagement rates you drove directly.
Show a portfolio, not just duties
Replace bullet points that describe responsibilities with links to campaigns you actually ran. Screenshots of post performance, content calendars you built, or community responses you managed tell employers far more than a job description reworded.
Filter openings by your strongest platform
Social media coordinator roles vary widely by channel focus. If your strongest work is on short-form video, target listings that name that format explicitly rather than applying to every opening regardless of fit.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists social media coordinator openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare for a content exercise in the interview
Many employers send a take-home assignment asking you to draft three to five sample posts or a short content calendar for their brand. Study their current channels before your interview so your samples reflect their actual tone and audience.
Negotiate starting date and tool access, not just pay
When you receive an offer, confirm which scheduling tools, design software, and ad accounts you'll have access to from day one. Gaps in tool access during onboarding slow your ability to deliver results and are easier to resolve before you start.
Social Media Coordinator Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most social media coordinators?
24 Seven Talent, LAUKOA, and Rippling are hiring the most social media coordinators right now, with openings concentrated in California, New York, and Florida, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Demand is especially active in media, retail, and nonprofit sectors.
How many social media coordinator jobs are remote?
About 54% of social media coordinator openings are fully remote or hybrid as of August 2026, making it one of the more flexible roles in marketing. Content creation and community management responsibilities tend to be the most remote-friendly, while roles that include in-person events or on-site photo shoots are more likely to require a local presence.
How do you become a social media coordinator?
Start by building a portfolio of content you've created or managed, even from personal projects, student organizations, or freelance work. Get comfortable with at least two or three major platforms and one scheduling tool. Apply to coordinator or assistant roles that match your strongest channel, then grow your responsibilities from there as you demonstrate measurable results.
Can you get hired as a social media coordinator with little experience?
Yes, many employers hire candidates with limited formal experience if you can show real examples of content you've created and results you've driven. Internships, volunteer work for nonprofits, or managing accounts for a student club all count. Pair those samples with a solid understanding of analytics basics and you're competitive for entry-level coordinator openings.
What does the social media coordinator interview process look like?
Most processes run two to three rounds. The first is usually a phone or video screen to confirm your background and communication style. A second round often includes a hiring manager interview and a take-home content exercise where you draft sample posts or a short strategy for their brand. Final rounds may involve meeting the broader team or presenting your exercise.
Where can I find and apply to social media coordinator jobs?
You can find and apply to social media coordinator jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find roles that match your experience and the platforms you know best, then apply directly to each listing that fits.
