The Role
We are expanding our Financial Services team and searching for a dynamic entry level Staff Accountant to join our long-tenured team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for timely and accurate preparation of financial accounting data in a variety of areas. It is essential that this candidate brings strong analytical and organizational skills to best support the accounting team.
What You Will Do
- Work closely with the senior team to understand and ensure accuracy of all financial reporting activity
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Perform account reconciliations and proactively investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Post cash activity daily, reconcile bank accounts and update the daily liquidity report
- Create and maintain new vendor and customer profiles as well as performing credit reference checks and filling out credit applications
- Review incoming contract labor invoices for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with vendor agreements and enter them into the system
- Process weekly payroll for our Poplarville location
- Sales tax return filing backup
- Assist in ad-hoc projects as they arise, which may relate to financial reporting, financial analysis, accounts payable, or accounts receivable
- Applies the corporate financial policies/procedures and GAAP
- Maintains confidentiality of all company and proprietary information
- Performs other duties as assigned
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- 0 - 2 years experience in accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions such as lookups, pivot tables, and spreadsheet-based reconciliation work.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines during monthly close and other reporting cycles.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with finance and operations teams.
- Analytical mindset, sound problem-solving ability, and a detail-oriented approach to handling sensitive financial information
