About Us
We're a Las Vegas CPA firm serving closely held businesses, professional practices, and individuals across tax, accounting, and advisory. Small team of five, direct access to the owner, real ownership of your work — no six layers of review and no being buried in a bullpen.
This is a genuinely mixed role. You'll close books, prepare returns, and talk to clients — which means you see the whole engagement instead of one slice of it. If you've wanted to move from pure bookkeeping into tax, this is a real path.
We also don't think good accounting requires being at a desk five days a week. We run a four-day schedule and we mean it.
How We Work
- Four-day week, 32 hours. Monday through Thursday, at full-time pay and full benefits. Not a compressed 40 — actually 32.
- Flexible within the day. Start early or start late. If you need to move hours for a kid's appointment or a contractor at the house, move them. We care that client work is accurate and on time, not that you were visible at 8:00 sharp.
- Occasional remote days. Primarily in-office, since document handling and client drop-ins need a person here, but we're not rigid about it once you're up to speed.
- Tax season is different, and we're upfront about it. From late January through April 15, expect a fifth day and roughly 45–50 hours a week. This position is non-exempt and every hour over 40 is paid at time and a half. We don't ask for unpaid hours. The other 40 weeks of the year, four days is genuinely four days.
What You'll Do
Bookkeeping and Payroll — 40–50% of the role
- Maintain monthly books for a portfolio of client accounts in QuickBooks Online and Desktop
- Bank, credit card, and merchant account reconciliations
- A/P and A/R support, journal entries, and month-end close
- Process payroll and coordinate related filings; track and resolve payroll tax notices
- Prepare clean trial balances and workpapers to carry into the return
- Assist with sales/use tax and Nevada Commerce Tax filings
Tax Preparation — 20–25% of the role
- Prepare individual returns (Form 1040) with Schedules A, B, C, D, and E for review
- Prepare straightforward business returns — 1120-S and 1065 — from books you may have closed yourself
- Organize source documents and build tax workpapers in UltraTax CS
- Enter and tie out W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, and brokerage statements
- Prepare extensions and estimated tax payment vouchers
- Assist with responses to IRS and state notices under CPA review
- Complexity scales with your experience — all work is reviewed and signed by the CPA
Client Service and Administration — 20–25% of the role
- Serve as a first point of contact by phone and email — answer what you can, route what you can't, and make sure nothing sits unanswered
- Manage document intake, e-signature requests, and client portal workflows in TaxDome
- Track engagement status and deadlines; follow up on missing client information
- Prepare engagement letters and assist with billing and collections
- Keep client records organized and audit-ready
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in a CPA firm or other multi-client environment
- At least one tax season of 1040 preparation experience, or clear readiness to learn it
- Active PTIN, or eligibility to obtain one before the season starts
- Strong QuickBooks skills; ProAdvisor certification a plus
- Payroll processing experience (Gusto, ADP, Paychex, or similar)
- Comfortable talking to business owners — clear, professional, and unflustered
- Genuinely self-managing. A four-day week only works if you track your own deadlines without being chased.
- Discretion with confidential financial information
Nice to Have
- UltraTax CS, TaxDome, or comparable firm software
- Enrolled Agent, EA candidate, or IRS Annual Filing Season Program participant
- Experience with pass-through entity returns (1120-S, 1065) and basis tracking
- Associate's degree or higher in accounting or business
Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
Benefits:
- 401(k) matching
- Paid time off
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Las Vegas, NV 89148

Staff Accountant Jobs in Nevada: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a staff accountant in Nevada?
You become a staff accountant in Nevada by earning a bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field, which satisfies the minimum requirement for most employers in the state. Nevada does not require a state license to work as a staff accountant, but pursuing CPA licensure through the Nevada State Board of Accountancy strengthens your candidacy significantly. Passing the CPA exam and meeting Nevada's education and experience requirements positions you for faster advancement and access to higher-level roles.
Which companies hire staff accountants in Nevada?
Companies currently hiring staff accountants in Nevada include FOREO, DRG Food, and Infojini, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Nevada's gaming, hospitality, and construction industries drive consistent demand, meaning large resort operators and regional contractors are among the most active employers in the state.
Which Nevada cities have the most staff accountant jobs?
Las Vegas and Reno account for the largest share of staff accountant openings in Nevada. Las Vegas dominates due to its concentration of gaming resorts, corporate headquarters, and regional financial services firms, while Reno draws demand from logistics companies, technology employers, and the growing health care sector anchored by Renown Health.
Are there remote staff accountant jobs in Nevada?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 33% of staff accountant openings tied to Nevada are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and software-driven nature of the work. General ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and accounts payable functions are the parts of the role most commonly performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a staff accountant in Nevada with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for accounts payable clerk, accounting assistant, or bookkeeper roles at Nevada's larger employers, then transitioning into a staff accountant title after demonstrating accuracy and reliability. MGM Resorts, Station Casinos, and Nevada-based construction firms like Sunstone Hotel Investors regularly bring on accounting associates at the entry level. Sitting for the CPA exam while working and earning your first months of supervised experience gives you a concrete credential that offsets limited experience in competitive applicant pools.
Where can I find and apply to staff accountant jobs in Nevada?
You can find and apply to staff accountant jobs in Nevada on Migrate Mate, which lists current Nevada openings updated in real time. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your experience and location preference, and apply directly to each one that fits.
