Staff Accountant Jobs in New Hampshire: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a staff accountant in New Hampshire?
A bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field is the standard starting point for staff accountant roles in New Hampshire. While the position itself does not require a state-issued license, many New Hampshire employers prefer candidates who are pursuing or have passed the CPA exam administered through the New Hampshire Board of Accountancy. Gaining experience through internships with New Hampshire firms or regional healthcare and manufacturing companies strengthens early applications considerably.
Which companies hire staff accountants in New Hampshire?
Companies currently hiring staff accountants in New Hampshire include Elm Grove Companies, Kendal at Hanover, and Duprey Hospitality, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New Hampshire's mix of large healthcare networks, defense contractors, and financial services operations means staff accountant openings tend to stay active across multiple industries throughout the year.
Which New Hampshire cities have the most staff accountant jobs?
Concord, Keene, and Salem consistently post the most staff accountant openings in New Hampshire. Manchester drives the largest volume as the state's commercial and financial services hub, while Concord draws openings from state government agencies and healthcare employers, and Nashua benefits from its concentration of technology and defense contractors along the Massachusetts border.
Are there remote staff accountant jobs in New Hampshire?
Yes, and more than many fields, since staff accounting work is largely desk-based and software-driven. About 67% of staff accountant openings tied to New Hampshire are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how widely accounting teams have adopted flexible arrangements. Month-end close cycles, accounts payable processing, and reconciliation work are the tasks most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a staff accountant in New Hampshire with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an accounting internship or a junior bookkeeping role with a New Hampshire regional firm or a large institutional employer such as a hospital network or state government agency. Many candidates also transition from accounts payable clerk or payroll assistant positions into staff accountant roles once they have demonstrated hands-on experience with accounting software. Passing at least one section of the CPA exam and pursuing an accounting degree from a New Hampshire institution such as the University of New Hampshire or Southern New Hampshire University strengthens applications for entry-level openings.
