Strategy Jobs in Iowa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategy professional in Iowa?
Most strategy roles in Iowa require at least a bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related discipline, and no state-issued license applies to the field. Employers in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids typically expect candidates to have experience with financial analysis, planning cycles, or project leadership. An MBA from an Iowa institution such as the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business or Iowa State University's Ivy College of Business strengthens candidacy for senior roles.
Which companies hire strategy professionals in Iowa?
Companies currently hiring strategy professionals in Iowa include CVS Health, Transamerica, and Casey's, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Iowa's concentration of insurance headquarters, regional healthcare systems, and large agricultural cooperatives means strategy talent is sought across several distinct sectors within the state.
Which Iowa cities have the most strategy jobs?
Des Moines, Iowa, and Cedar Rapids have the most strategy openings in Iowa. Des Moines dominates because it is home to several Fortune 500 insurance and financial services headquarters, while Cedar Rapids draws demand from manufacturing and food processing firms, and Iowa City benefits from the University of Iowa's administrative and health system operations.
Are there remote strategy jobs in Iowa?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 88% of strategy openings tied to Iowa are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the work. Roles focused on market research, competitive analysis, and long-range financial planning tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions involving regular executive presentations or cross-functional facilitation more often require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a strategy professional in Iowa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a business analyst, financial analyst, or operations coordinator role at a large Iowa employer, then moving laterally into a strategy function. Principal Financial Group, UnityPoint Health, and Transamerica hire entry-level analysts who rotate through planning and strategy projects. Building a portfolio with a capstone project, case competition, or graduate consulting clinic at Tippie or Ivy College demonstrates analytical capability when direct strategy experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to strategy jobs in Iowa?
You can find and apply to strategy jobs in Iowa on Migrate Mate, which lists current Iowa openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings, identify the roles that fit your background and target location, and apply directly to each one.
