Service Delivery Manager Jobs in Iowa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a service delivery manager in Iowa?
Service delivery manager is not a state-licensed role in Iowa, so there is no Iowa-specific board exam or registration required. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, information technology, or a related field, combined with several years of experience in IT operations, client services, or project coordination. Earning an ITIL Foundation certification is the most widely recognized credential for breaking into the role, and many Iowa employers list it as a hiring preference.
How much do service delivery managers make in Iowa?
Service delivery managers in Iowa earn a median of about $143,780 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $101,340 for the lowest 10% to over $213,730 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire service delivery managers in Iowa?
Employers hiring service delivery managers in Iowa right now include CARVANA, AEGON, and AGRILAND FS, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Iowa's concentration of large insurance carriers, regional financial institutions, and health system IT departments makes it a consistent market for this role year-round.
Which Iowa cities have the most service delivery manager jobs?
Cedar Rapids, Britt, and Altoona have the most service delivery manager openings in Iowa. Des Moines leads because it is home to major insurance and financial services headquarters, while Cedar Rapids draws hiring from technology and manufacturing firms, and the Quad Cities corridor along the Mississippi benefits from multi-state employers with Iowa operations.
Are there remote service delivery manager jobs in Iowa?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 25% of service delivery manager openings tied to Iowa are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the role centers on communication, reporting, and platform-based coordination rather than physical presence. Client review calls, SLA reporting, and escalation management translate well to remote work, though roles tied to on-site infrastructure teams more often require in-person availability.
How can I get hired as a service delivery manager in Iowa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a service delivery manager role from a help desk, IT support, or project coordinator position within an Iowa employer. Large institutions such as Principal Financial Group, UnityPoint Health, and regional managed service providers regularly hire associates or coordinators who build toward delivery management. Earning an ITIL Foundation certification before applying signals readiness and is a concrete edge, and internal transfers from client success or operations analyst roles are a common stepping stone.
