Tax Senior Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a tax senior in Georgia?
Becoming a tax senior in Georgia typically requires a CPA license issued by the Georgia State Board of Accountancy, which administers licensure under state law and requires passing the Uniform CPA Exam, meeting Georgia's education requirements, and completing supervised accounting experience. Most employers also expect a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Starting in a staff accountant or tax associate role at a public firm or corporate tax department is the standard path to reaching the senior level.
How much do tax seniors make in Georgia?
Tax seniors in Georgia earn a median of about $81,900 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $51,830 for the lowest 10% to over $145,960 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire tax seniors in Georgia?
Employers hiring tax seniors in Georgia right now include Koch, CohnReznick, and Aprio, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and Big Four offices in Atlanta means corporate and public accounting roles are available year-round across a range of industries.
Which Georgia cities have the most tax senior jobs?
Atlanta, Alpharetta, and Duluth have the most tax senior openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates because it serves as the regional headquarters for major accounting firms, financial institutions, and large corporations, while Savannah and Augusta draw openings from regional CPA firms and the manufacturing and healthcare employers that anchor those local economies.
Are there remote tax senior jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than most fields. Tax senior work is largely desk-based and document-driven, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 56% of tax senior openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how widely firms have adopted flexible schedules since the pandemic. Compliance and provision work tends to be the most remote-compatible, while roles involving direct client service or internal team management are more likely to require some in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a tax senior in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing a tax associate or staff accountant role at a public accounting firm and building toward the senior title from there. Large Georgia employers including Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers run structured new-graduate programs through their Atlanta offices that accept candidates with an accounting degree and a CPA exam in progress. Adjacent roles in bookkeeping, accounts payable, or general accounting at Georgia-based companies can also serve as a bridge, especially when paired with active progress toward CPA licensure through the Georgia State Board of Accountancy.
