Transportation Manager Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a transportation manager in Missouri?
Transportation manager roles in Missouri do not require a state-issued license, but most employers expect a bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, or business along with several years of operations experience. Certifications from the American Society of Transportation and Logistics or the Association for Supply Chain Management strengthen applications significantly. Many Missouri employers, particularly those tied to manufacturing and distribution, promote from within dispatcher, logistics coordinator, or operations analyst roles.
How much do transportation managers make in Missouri?
Transportation managers in Missouri earn a median of about $102,870 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $58,240 for the lowest 10% to over $186,040 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire transportation managers in Missouri?
Missouri transportation manager roles are posted by Farnsworth, CPKC, and Olsson and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Missouri's concentration of large distribution centers, automotive suppliers, and food and beverage manufacturers makes it a consistent source of transportation management openings throughout the year.
Which Missouri cities have the most transportation manager jobs?
St. Louis, Kansas City, and Fulton have the most transportation manager openings in Missouri right now. Kansas City leads because of its position as a major rail and trucking hub with dense distribution infrastructure, while St. Louis draws demand from its manufacturing base and river freight activity, and Springfield benefits from regional retail and logistics operations anchored by large national employers with Midwest distribution footprints.
Are there remote transportation manager jobs in Missouri?
Yes, but they're rare. About 57% of transportation manager openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of most roles in fleet oversight and carrier operations. The functions most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements are strategic procurement, carrier contract negotiation, and transportation analytics positions at larger corporate employers.
How can I get hired as a transportation manager in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a logistics coordinator or dispatcher role at a Missouri distribution center or freight brokerage, where day-to-day exposure to routing, carrier communication, and compliance builds the foundation employers look for. Large Missouri-based distribution operations and regional carriers often hire associates without management experience for rotational or training-track positions. Earning a Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution credential from APICS while in an entry role signals readiness to move into management.
Where can I find and apply to transportation manager jobs in Missouri?
