UX Research Intern Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ux research intern in New Jersey?
UX research intern roles in New Jersey require no state-issued license or registration, so the path runs through education and demonstrated research skills. Most New Jersey employers look for candidates enrolled in or recently graduated from programs in human-computer interaction, psychology, information science, or design at institutions such as Rutgers University, Stevens Institute of Technology, or Montclair State University. Building a portfolio with usability studies, interview transcripts, or survey analysis from coursework or personal projects is the most effective way to stand out.
Which companies hire ux research interns in New Jersey?
Employers hiring ux research interns in New Jersey right now include Merck, Verisk, and ENNUVIZ, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New Jersey's concentration of pharmaceutical, financial services, and media companies means intern research roles frequently support digital health platforms, customer-facing apps, and enterprise software products.
Which New Jersey cities have the most ux research intern jobs?
Iselin, Rahway, and Hoboken have the most ux research intern openings in New Jersey. Jersey City and Newark benefit from proximity to New York City's tech and media firms that maintain New Jersey offices, while Princeton draws research intern demand from the pharmaceutical and consumer goods headquarters clustered along the Route 1 corridor.
Are there remote ux research intern jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than most fields, since ux research work centers on conducting interviews, analyzing recordings, and synthesizing data, tasks that translate well to remote settings. About 50% of ux research intern openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly digital-first teams have adopted distributed research operations. Generative research and survey analysis roles are the most likely to be fully remote, while in-lab usability testing positions typically require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a ux research intern in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a university-affiliated internship or co-op program, which New Jersey employers such as Johnson & Johnson and Prudential Financial run specifically for students without prior industry experience. Candidates from adjacent roles like marketing research assistant, product analyst intern, or library science positions often make strong lateral moves by emphasizing their interview and synthesis skills. A portfolio demonstrating even one end-to-end study, a competitive analysis, or a moderated usability session built during coursework is typically enough to secure a first interview at New Jersey-based product teams.
Where can I find and apply to ux research intern jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to ux research intern jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and availability, and apply directly to the positions that match.
