We are seeking a skilled and dependable Fitness Equipment Technician to join our team at Genesis Health Club. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing a wide variety of commercial fitness equipment to ensure our members have a safe, reliable, and enjoyable workout experience.
Our facility includes a large selection of Cybex, Precor, Life Fitness, and other commercial fitness equipment, including strength machines, treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, rowers, and other cardiovascular and resistance equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on commercial fitness equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment issues.
- Service and maintain Cybex, Precor, Life Fitness, and other major fitness equipment brands.
- Maintain treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, spin bikes, rowers, stair climbers, strength machines, cable systems, and related equipment.
- Identify worn, damaged, or malfunctioning components and determine appropriate repairs or replacement.
- Perform adjustments, lubrication, belt and cable replacement, alignment, calibration, and other routine service procedures.
- Respond promptly to equipment repair requests and minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, preventive maintenance, parts, and equipment issues.
- Work with equipment manufacturers and outside service technicians when specialized repairs or warranty work are required.
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools, replacement parts, and supplies.
- Assist with equipment moves, installations, assembly, and relocation when needed.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance meet appropriate safety standards.
- Communicate professionally with members and staff regarding equipment issues and repairs.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and professional fitness environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience repairing or maintaining commercial fitness equipment, industrial equipment, mechanical systems, or similar equipment preferred.
- Mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Familiarity with commercial fitness equipment and major brands such as Cybex, Precor, and Life Fitness is a strong plus.
- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and service documentation.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple repair and maintenance requests.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and work around heavy fitness equipment.
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious.
