Which medical devices companies sponsor Green Card visas in California?
Several large medical devices employers in California have established Green Card sponsorship programs, including Intuitive Surgical in Sunnyvale, Abbott's vascular and diabetes divisions in Santa Clara, Medtronic in Northridge, and Becton Dickinson in San Diego. Mid-size and growth-stage device companies in the Bay Area and San Diego also sponsor, particularly for engineering and regulatory roles where specialized talent is harder to source domestically.
Which cities in California have the most medical devices Green Card sponsorship jobs?
San Diego leads in concentration, anchored by the Torrey Pines and Sorrento Valley clusters where companies like NuVasive, Tandem Diabetes Care, and Natus Medical are based. The Bay Area, particularly San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Fremont, is strong for surgical robotics and diagnostics. Los Angeles and Orange County round out the state, with orthopedics and interventional cardiology employers active in those markets.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship?
Roles that require a specialized degree and where employers consistently file PERM labor certifications include hardware and software engineering for medical devices, regulatory affairs specialists, quality systems engineers, clinical applications scientists, and R&D scientists with advanced degrees. Positions requiring deep domain expertise, such as embedded systems for implantable devices or 510(k) regulatory strategy, tend to attract sponsorship because qualified U.S. applicants are in short supply.
How do I find medical devices Green Card sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type and state, so you can browse medical devices roles in California where employers have indicated Green Card sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to manually screening postings. Migrate Mate also surfaces companies with a documented history of sponsoring international talent in the medical devices sector, which is especially useful when targeting California's competitive device market.
Are there any California-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in medical devices?
California's medical devices industry is heavily regulated at both the federal and state level, and many roles intersect with FDA compliance work, which can make employer PERM filings more straightforward to justify given the specialized nature of the work. California's strong employment laws also mean that sponsored employees generally have clear protections during the sponsorship period. Processing times for PERM and I-140 filings are federally driven, so state location does not affect USCIS adjudication timelines directly.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card medical devices jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
