About the Team
DoorDash Labs, established in 2018, serves as the innovation hub for DoorDash, focusing on developing automation and robotics solutions to enhance last-mile logistics. The team's mission is to create technologies that support and augment human networks, aiming to improve efficiency for Dashers, merchants, and consumers alike. We're ruthlessly focused on business impact. We are a highly senior team composed of former pioneers from a variety of different robotics industries. As of 2025, DoorDash has completed 10B lifetime deliveries. We're focused on how to do the next 10B even better.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior/Staff Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team, with a focus on developing production-grade electrical systems for consumer and enterprise hardware platforms (e.g., tablets, POS systems, peripherals, and connected devices).
This role demands a strong background in mixed-signal board design, power systems, wireless integration, and high-volume product development. The ideal candidate has a passion for building and shipping reliable hardware at scale and thrives in an environment that demands technical depth and high-quality execution across multiple concurrent programs.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
Architect and implement electrical subsystems including:
- Power systems: battery management, charging, DC/DC converters, power distribution, and protection.
- Digital and mixed-signal board design: application processors, MCUs, high-speed interfaces (USB, PCIe, MIPI, etc.), memory, and sensor integration.
- Wireless systems: WiFi, BLE, LTE, antennas, and EMI/EMC-conscious layout and integration.
- Peripheral and display integration: touch interfaces, display subsystems, and external connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full lifecycle of electrical hardware from concept, schematic capture, layout review, through bring-up, validation, certification, and production handoff.
- Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, systems, product, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware into polished, field-deployed products.
- Drive design for reliability and manufacturability (EVT, DVT, PVT, yield optimization, cost-down initiatives, etc.).
- Lead board bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting using lab tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, etc.).
- Support initial firmware bring-up and system integration as needed (bare metal, RTOS, embedded Linux, or Android-based systems).
- Contribute across multiple programs — including merchant-facing hardware and emerging automation or robotics efforts — as business needs evolve.
We're excited about you because…
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in hands-on electrical hardware development.
- Proven track record of shipping high-volume consumer or enterprise electronics.
- Expertise in one or more of the following:
- Power management and battery-operated product design.
- Digital and analog circuit design, simulation, and layout best practices.
- High-speed digital design and signal/power integrity considerations.
- Wireless system integration and EMI/EMC-aware layout techniques.
- Strong hands-on experience with board bring-up, testing, and debugging.
- Experience working with ODM/JDM or contract manufacturing partners to scale products to mass production.
- Fluent with tools like Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, or equivalent.
- Must be comfortable regularly exercising discretion and independent judgment in performing job duties, including evaluating options, making informed decisions, and determining appropriate courses of action within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing tablets, POS systems, or other connected consumer/enterprise devices.
- Familiarity with firmware development in C/C++ and embedded system integration.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and certification processes (FCC, CE, etc.).
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing and post-launch field reliability improvements.
- Exposure to electromechanical or robotics systems.
- You've shipped hardware at scale in customer-facing products.
- Thrive in high-integrity, fast-paced, high-ownership engineering environments.
- You are an engineer in your personal life and have the projects to prove it.
- Have worked with in-house and contract manufacturing teams.
- Are obsessed with craftsmanship.
- Live and breathe extreme ownership.

Which e-commerce companies in California sponsor H-1B1 Singapore visas?
California-based e-commerce employers with documented H-1B1 visa Labor Condition Application filings include Amazon's Bay Area and Los Angeles offices, eBay in San Jose, Shopify's California teams, and mid-size marketplace platforms headquartered in the Bay Area. Specialty retailers with large digital commerce divisions, such as Gap Inc. and Williams-Sonoma, have also filed LCAs for Singapore nationals in technology and analytics roles.
Which California cities have the most e-commerce H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship jobs?
San Jose and the broader South Bay lead in volume, driven by the concentration of marketplace platforms and logistics-tech companies. San Francisco follows closely, particularly for product management and growth engineering roles at direct-to-consumer brands. Los Angeles has grown significantly as a hub for fashion e-commerce, influencer-driven retail platforms, and digital advertising technology, making it a strong secondary market for Singaporean candidates.
What types of e-commerce roles typically qualify for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship in California?
Roles that commonly satisfy the H-1B1 specialty occupation requirement in e-commerce include software engineers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, product managers with technical degrees, UX researchers, and supply chain analysts holding at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. General business or operations roles without a clear degree-to-job correlation are less likely to qualify and may face additional scrutiny during the Labor Condition Application review.
How do I find e-commerce H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters e-commerce job listings specifically by visa type, including H-1B1 Singapore, and surfaces employers with verified LCA filing history in California. This lets you focus on companies that have already demonstrated willingness to sponsor Singapore nationals rather than applying broadly and asking about sponsorship after the fact. You can narrow results by city, role type, and employer size within the e-commerce category.
Are there California-specific considerations for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship in e-commerce?
California's strict employee classification laws mean e-commerce employers are generally cautious about visa sponsorship for roles that could be reclassified as contractor work. Additionally, California's prevailing wage requirements align with DOL standards, but the state's high cost of living pushes actual offered wages well above federal minimums in most metro areas. Singaporean candidates should verify the posted wage against the OFLC Wage Search for their specific occupation and county before accepting an offer.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B1 Singapore e-commerce jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
