You will be hands‑on with hardware from early prototypes through mass production, solving real system‑level problems in the lab and working closely with cross‑functional engineering teams.
This is an opportunity to own baseband hardware bring‑up, integration, and validation, and to see your work ship at scale. If you enjoy deep technical debugging, hardware and software co‑analysis, and building robust systems that must meet automotive reliability standards, this role offers strong impact and long‑term technical growth.
Why join us
- Be based in San Diego or Boulder, both strong engineering hubs with an excellent quality of life.
- Work on next‑generation automotive telematics platforms that ship in high‑volume production.
- Own meaningful hardware from early development through customer deployment.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers across baseband, RF, hardware, and software.
- Build deep system‑level expertise in a highly technical, real‑world environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
What you will do
- Design, integrate, bring up, and validate baseband subsystems for automotive telematics hardware platforms, from early silicon to production.
- Perform system‑level debugging and root‑cause analysis across hardware, firmware, and system interfaces.
- Partner closely with RF, systems, software, component, mechanical, and customer engineering teams to deliver production‑ready platforms.
- Support hardware validation and characterization, including lab bring‑up, stress testing, and performance analysis.
- Review and analyze schematics, board layouts, and system architecture to identify and mitigate baseband‑related risks.
- Work with software and systems teams on hardware and software co‑debug, including boot issues, power sequencing, memory interfaces, and high‑speed digital connectivity.
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation, including bring‑up notes, debug reports, and design recommendations.
- Support customer and field issues by reproducing problems in the lab and driving corrective actions.
- Participate in design reviews and post‑silicon bring‑up activities to improve quality, robustness, and time‑to‑market.
- Follow automotive quality, reliability, and compliance requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
Required qualifications
- Strong fundamentals in digital hardware systems and system‑level design.
- Hands‑on experience with baseband bring‑up, debug, and validation on new hardware platforms.
- Experience integrating modem‑based SoCs into system‑level hardware designs.
- Solid understanding of memory interfaces such as DDR, high‑speed digital buses, and power sequencing.
- Experience working across hardware and software boundaries, including collaboration with firmware and systems teams.
- Proven lab debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum or network analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
- Working knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity concepts, with the ability to identify system‑level electrical issues.
- Experience working in cross‑functional engineering environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document issues and solutions.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with automotive or telematics platforms.
- Familiarity with automotive quality and reliability requirements, including temperature and lifecycle considerations.

Which media & entertainment companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Colorado?
Denver-based employers with documented F-1 OPT hiring in media and entertainment include Comcast regional operations, NBCUniversal-affiliated broadcast units, and local digital media studios. Colorado's film production sector, supported by the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media, also draws companies that hire international graduates in production, post-production, and content strategy roles. OPT sponsorship patterns vary by company size and role type, so verifying each employer's filing history is worthwhile.
Which cities in Colorado have the most media & entertainment F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Denver accounts for the largest share of media and entertainment OPT opportunities in Colorado, with its concentration of broadcast affiliates, digital agencies, and streaming-focused production companies. Boulder attracts media tech and content marketing roles tied to its technology sector. Colorado Springs has a smaller but active market, particularly in gaming, animation, and military-adjacent media production for training and simulation content.
How do I find media & entertainment F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for media and entertainment roles in Colorado where employers have a verified F-1 OPT sponsorship history, saving you the time of screening out companies that don't sponsor international students. You can search by role type, city, and visa category to surface opportunities in broadcast, digital content, production, and media technology that match your OPT authorization window and STEM extension eligibility.
What types of media & entertainment roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Colorado?
Roles most commonly associated with F-1 OPT authorization in Colorado's media and entertainment sector include digital content producer, broadcast engineer, video game designer, UX designer for media platforms, data analyst for audience insights, and software developer at media technology companies. Positions requiring a directly related bachelor's degree in communications, film, computer science, or digital media generally align with OPT eligibility requirements under USCIS guidelines.
Are there any Colorado-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in media & entertainment?
Colorado's state-level film and media production incentives attract out-of-state production companies that set up temporary operations, which can affect the continuity and structure of OPT-eligible employment. International students should confirm that any role meets USCIS's requirement for a formal employer-employee relationship and that part-time or contract work complies with authorized OPT hours. Colorado's growing gaming and animation clusters in Denver also create STEM OPT extension pathways for graduates in computer science or engineering disciplines working in media technology.
