Which construction companies sponsor H-2B visas in Idaho?
Landscaping and site-preparation contractors, residential framing companies, and highway infrastructure firms in Idaho have historically filed H-2B petitions for temporary construction workers. Employers concentrated in the Boise metro, Twin Falls, and Coeur d'Alene areas tend to file most frequently, particularly for seasonal surges tied to spring and summer building cycles. Checking DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data shows which specific employers have certified petitions on record.
Which cities in Idaho have the most construction H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Boise and the broader Treasure Valley corridor see the highest volume of H-2B construction activity in Idaho, driven by sustained population growth and residential development. Coeur d'Alene and Nampa also generate steady demand, particularly for framing, concrete, and earthwork crews. Smaller markets like Twin Falls and Idaho Falls see seasonal spikes tied to agricultural infrastructure and commercial build-outs.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship?
H-2B sponsorship in construction typically covers roles classified as temporary, including carpenters, concrete finishers, roofers, laborers, equipment operators, and framers. The position must be genuinely temporary, meaning the employer's need is tied to a one-time event, peak-load season, or intermittent demand rather than a permanent workforce gap. Roles requiring licensure, such as electricians or plumbers, are less commonly sponsored under H-2B due to state-level credential requirements.
How do I find construction H-2B sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate lists construction H-2B sponsorship jobs in Idaho filtered by employer filing history and role type, making it easier to identify companies that have already navigated the DOL certification process. You can search by city or construction specialty to find active listings in markets like Boise or Coeur d'Alene. Reviewing employers with prior H-2B certifications in OFLC disclosure data alongside Migrate Mate listings gives you the clearest picture of where verified sponsorship activity is concentrated.
Are there any Idaho-specific considerations for construction H-2B workers?
Idaho's construction season is heavily influenced by mountain winters, meaning H-2B petitions are most commonly filed for spring-through-fall start dates when outdoor work is feasible. Employers must demonstrate that local U.S. workers are unavailable before DOL certifies an H-2B petition, which can be a higher bar in Boise where the construction labor pool is larger. Workers should also be aware that Idaho does not have its own prevailing wage law, so federal DOL wage determinations from the OFLC Wage Search apply.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B construction jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
