Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor TN visas in Illinois?
Boeing maintains a significant engineering and operations presence in the Chicago area and has a history of sponsoring TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals. Northrop Grumman, Collins Aerospace, Raytheon Technologies, and L3Harris also operate facilities in Illinois and have filed for TN-eligible roles. Sponsorship availability depends on the specific role, location, and current hiring needs at each employer.
Which cities in Illinois have the most aerospace and defense TN sponsorship jobs?
The Chicago metropolitan area, including suburbs like Schaumburg, Lisle, and Rolling Meadows, concentrates the majority of aerospace and defense employers in Illinois. Rockford has a strong manufacturing and aerospace supply chain presence, with companies like Woodward and CIRCOR operating there. Decatur and the Quad Cities region also have defense-adjacent manufacturing operations worth exploring.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
TN visa eligibility in aerospace and defense generally covers roles that map to recognized USCIS TN occupation categories, most commonly engineers (aerospace, mechanical, electrical, systems), computer systems analysts, and scientific professionals. Roles requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field are the strongest candidates. Hands-on technician or trades positions typically do not qualify, as TN requires a professional-level occupation.

Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, you can filter by TN visa, Illinois, and the aerospace and defense industry to see employers with verified TN sponsorship history in the state. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies that may not sponsor. Reviewing DOL Labor Condition Application filings through the OFLC Wage Search tool can also confirm which Illinois employers have recently certified TN-eligible positions.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for TN sponsorship in aerospace and defense?
Illinois aerospace and defense employers often support Department of Defense contracts, which can introduce security clearance requirements. TN visa holders can generally obtain security clearances, though the process takes time and outcomes depend on individual circumstances, this is a factor worth discussing directly with any prospective employer. Illinois has no state-level visa sponsorship requirements, so federal TN rules govern the process entirely.
