We’re looking for a BBF Complex Leader who thrives on challenges, inspires teams, and delivers results that matter.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The BBF Complex Leader is accountable for providing support for our 24/7 manufacturing operation, shift leaders and associated processes. This person must have a strong sense of personal commitment towards the business and our customers; an ability to foster teamwork throughout the organization; communicate effectively with all levels ranging from primary workforce to plant leadership. The BBF Complex Leader must build a culture of trust, respect and accountability in a Union environment. In addition, the individual in this position helps to implement organizational strategies, standards and practices enrolling employees to achieve the Plant’s business strategy and deliver results.

Span of Control: 3 Day shift hourly employees

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety & Environmental Leadership

- Promote a strong safety culture where safety and sustainability are core values and personal responsibilities.
- Ensure manufacturing processes, control plans, and work instructions are designed and executed to protect employees, contractors, and visitors.

Manage Operations

- Identify and drive continuous improvement efforts through standardized work to improve cost, grow year-over-year productivity and reduce quality related issues for our customers.
- Lead operations in the hot end area of the plant to include the Batch, Binder, and furnace processes.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineers (Line & Furnace) to identify and drive continuous improvement efforts through standardized work to improve cost, grow year-over-year productivity and reduce quality related issues for our customers.
- Set clear and measurable performance expectations, in line with plant goals; communicating and ensuring results are achieved for self and direct reports.
- Proactively analyzes and manages all relative operations performance metrics making improvements to efficiencies, quality and cost.
- Assign and coordinate work in a manufacturing department to include supervising first line leaders.
- Operate with zero environmental non-conformities to applicable company, government and regulatory policies.
- Ensure the quality systems are utilized to provide a consistent product that meets manufacturing specifications.
- Ensure effective deployment of employee/labor relations practices (building strong partnership).

Talent Development/Employee Relations

- Set clear and measurable performance expectations for self and direct reports aligning with the Kansas City Plant, Division and Corporate goals.
- Establish an engaged workforce characterized by mutual trust, open communications, teamwork, and recognition.
- Create and sustain a culture where talent is developed through effective performance management, talent evaluation and utilization of people.
- Maintain documentation, track, counsel and execute coaching and corrective action when performance issues occur.
- Create work standards for the hot end and partner with the Learning & Development Lead to execute training for employees in the BBF group.

Customer Focus

- Partner with peers, manufacturing engineers, process engineers, etc to clearly understand process and customers FFUs so Kansas City can meet/exceed customer expectations.
- Assists in driving to zero defects or failures to customer.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline required.
- Minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 2 years leading people in a complex manufacturing environment or successful completion of the Manufacturing Leadership Program.

Preferred Experience:

- Experience leading in a Union environment.
- Manufacturing Engineer experience preferred.
- Six Sigma certification and Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
- Willingness to relocate in the future with OC.
- Experience driving TPM and 5S preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

- Advanced knowledge of the people, process and equipment for the hot end operation of the plant.
- Business and financial acumen.
- Ability to compile and utilize data and/or Six Sigma methods for problem-solving and decision-making to eliminate manufacturing losses and unnecessary costs.
- Creating and implementing strategic and operations plans.
- Leading and motivating peers, direct reports and primary workforce.
- Effective with verbal and written communication.
- Strong planning, resourcing and effective delegation skills.
- Able to engage and care for others starting with safety.
- Capable of achieving results fast both individually and through teams.
- Experience in managing environmental compliance programs, preferred.
